No phone please …

Sometimes we learn so much from kids. As an adult we sometimes forget that kids are so smart and learn so much from their environment.

I mostly feel that Chhori is very small and forget that she already knows so much. She surprised us when she stared to join our conversations. Whenever AS or I ask a question to each other, if she knows the answer, she will say it. Sometimes it has caught us off guard but we love it as it beings a smile to both of our faces.

chhori birthday (3)

Lately we are giving her a lot less screen time so she can play with her toys and be active more. It is working well except that sometimes she will say “TV please mama”.  I see her pretend play with her cars, teddies and dolls. It is so interesting and surprising at the same time as she repeats things that we say to her like ” No baby ” or ” Eat more please” etc.

Yesterday, both AS and I were on our phones updating our grocery list and Chhori was dancing to one of her rhymes and suddenly she came to us and said “No phone mama”. I didn’t quite get it at first but when she said it again, I did and put my phone down. Then she went to AS and said, “No phone papa.” He obliged and she instructed both of us to stand up and start dancing with her.

Both of us could not help but laugh as that is what we usually tell her and now she was reminding us of that.

I am loving being a parent to this smart little cutie pie.

Do share any unexpected conversation by your kids. I am sure there are some fun and embarrassing ones too.

Have a great day everyone.

I feel blessed…

I am sure I am not alone in this boat. There are days/ week where you feel down and don’t want to do anything, meet anyone and feel as if your life is going nowhere. You just see everything around you and nothing is going according to your plan.

I am having one of those days and I feel like I need to jerking myself out of it and tell myself that I have many blessing to count and I should not waste time thinking about nonsense.

So that is what I am doing right now.

  • I am blessed with good health which so many people in this world wish for.

  • I am blessed to have loving parents who will do anything to make me happy and have been so supportive and caring throughout my life. I am where I am because of their sacrifice and love. I should never forget that even when I am down.

  • I am blessed to have a hubby who completes me in every way. He knows every small thing about me and tries his best to keep a smile on my face. I am so blessed to get a partner who is my love, friend and my life. Nothing can change our bond and I am so proud to say that.

  • I am blessed to have a daughter who is my world, my heartbeat and absolute cutie pie. When she hugs me, kisses me or says “I love you Mama”, the world becomes a happier place. She is a source of happiness in our lives. Sometime I become selfish and want to stop time as I don’t want her to grow up.

  • I am blessed to have a job which helps me to provide family with food, a roof on our head and life’s various needs.
  • I am blessed to be living in a country where I don’t have to worry about day to day stuff and don’t need to fight for our rights.
  • I am blessed to have friends and family who care about me and my happiness. Even if they may not be many, the care and love is real and it matters a lot.

Writing this is already making me feel better.

Please share your own list and hope that list can bring a smile on your face every time you are down or unhappy.

Have a great day everyone.

The eggs they laid hatched and now there are two cute baby pigeons. I got a video of them with the mum/dad. Look how cute they are.  🙂

Accident and lucky escape

I want to believe that we are very relaxed parents especially at our own place as we know the house is baby proof.

Chhori has learned the climbing skill so she keeps on discovering new things to climb on but our place is mostly safe so we let her play without being very worried.

Last week, we went to visit one of our friends. We have been to this friend’s house multiple times and Chhori loves to explore their living room. She was climbing on a coffee table early in the evening.

Anyway we were all watching a movie and Chhori was playing nearby.

Suddenly, she decided that she would climb their shoe rack. Unfortunately, the shoe rack is the one from Ikea which was recommended to be hooked to the wall but it wasn’t.

We were really luck that AS was just near her and caught the rack so it didn’t fall on her. All of us were shocked for a while but Chhori was as cool as a banana. She didn’t scream or cry but was just surprise when I screamed when I saw what was happening. Within a minute, she stared to play with other things in the room as if nothing had happened.

But for us, we learned a good lesson to be near her all the time when we are out and about. As she is getting older, she has become more curious so we need to be very careful and watch what she is doing all the time.

I am more worried about our visit to Nepal. I can’t even imagine how things will work out there.

Do share your own experience and if you know how could we can prevent things like this happening in future.

Take care everyone,

Hamilton Zoo: New Zealand

I guess the way we spend time during a holiday has changed completely. I used to write about adventures and running around when we holidayed as a couple but as a family it was a more relaxed pace like spending a day at going to a zoo :).

We have been looking forward to this family getaway for a long time and we were all excited.

First thing at the zoo is a photo in front of the signage 🙂

hamilton zoo (2)

Hamilton Zoo is an average sized zoo, not very big to require days exploring but big enough (25 hectare) to spend with small kids walking, around and enjoying. The best part is that the animals are not caged like in most zoos so visiting Hamilton zoo feels like you are walking in a National park and animals are living in their nature habitat. All the animals are still at a safe distance in massive enclosures so they could roam freely.

We started our tour with the Rhino first as the lady in the counter told us there is a baby rhino on display who will be removed later.

hamilton zoo (3) hamilton zoo (4)

I guess everything when they are baby are very cute, even the rhino. We enjoyed the two adult rhinos playing with each other while the baby rhino followed her mum around. We spent lots of time there and Chhori was excited to see a rhino after watching all the animal related rhymes.

hamilton zoo (22)   hamilton zoo (14)

It was really nice to see many animals so close as well. I have never seen a red panda or a giraffe so near me. When we visited Dubbo zoo, we had a pretty good encounter with giraffes but this was even better as we are on the same level and I could see how tall they really are. They are just spectacular and we spend lots of time admiring them.

The Sumatran tiger exhibit was also impressive so were the chimpanzee and cheetah.

hamilton zoo (11)

There were many chimpanzees on display and there were some babies too. It was really cool to see them lay a picnic rug before they sat down. So many of their actions reminded me of human beings 🙂

hamilton zoo (24)

We also saw lots of other creatures, including native New Zealand birds and reptiles.

hamilton zoo (21) hamilton zoo (16)   hamilton zoo (8)

The other thing I discovered that day is how patient and great teacher AS is to our daughter. The whole day, he was pointing at animals and birds and explaining to Chhori what they are and talking to her to keep her interested.

hamilton zoo (27) hamilton zoo (25) hamilton zoo (6)

Also I saw how much my parents loved Chhori as they kept on playing with her making sure she was OK. It is so great to have them around.

hamilton zoo (1)

It took us around 3 hours to walk around the whole zoo. Chhori napped for an hour or so during the visit so she was full of energy when she was awake, running around everywhere and enjoying the day.

hamilton zoo (23)

We all were hungry at the end of it so we went to the café onsite for lunch. They even have peacocks walking around the café area. We ordered burger and chips and Chhori had nuggets.

hamilton zoo (5)

There is a playground inside the zoo as well so Chhori and I managed to have fun for a while on the swing before we left the zoo.

hamilton zoo (28)

I have to admit we all had great fun. A perfect way to spend a day in Hamilton.

Next stop Hamilton Garden, see you soon with that post.

Take care everyone,
