Sun, Sea and Sand, here we come

I think every winter I have written a post on how much I hate winter and it is no exception this year so I am very excite to be going away from this cold weather to enjoy lots of sun, sea and sand.

Working out at 8 degree in the morning and layering on multiple clothes during the day, this winter has not done me much favor. So I am excited to be leaving this cold weather for a warm hot tropical paradise :).

The packing is done, my hat, bikini and thongs are ready to enjoy the sun and I am ready to feel the water at the beach.

Hawaii holds a special place in my heart as I have meant to go there forever. I don’t know why but I always wanted to go there and for one reason or another couldn’t make it until now. When AS and I talked about it before the wedding, we even planned to go there for our honeymoon. Instead we went to Vietnam as we didn’t have many days left after a big wedding in Nepal.

Anyways no more complaints, instead my mind is full of ideas on what to do once we get there. I have a long list of places in my mind like

Please let me know if I have missed out the obvious. I am also planning to eat at the following recommended places. Please do add more if you know any good eateries.

  • Eggs and things
  • F. Chang’s
  • Udon Noodle place
  • Ihop
  • Cheesecake factory

And of course shopping is definitely on the cards as usual :).

A friend of mine, as I mentioned in a previous post, will be with us for the whole time which will make this holiday even more memorable.

Please do add any other things you know about Hawaii that we should experience.

Anyway guys until I blog again, take care and have a great week.

Vivid 2017

Vivid Sydney is an annual light show that showcases great ideas and creativity of amazing artists. The event has spectacular illumination of the Sydney Opera House sails, botanical garden and an amazing water show at Darling Harbor.

Last week, we went to Vivid like every year as it is one of the best shows Sydney puts on apart from the New Year fireworks.

This year, canon had a special setup in front of the Opera house and Harbor Bridge. We queued up for 30 minutes to take our photo and it was worth it :).

They emailed the digital version and gave us printed copy as well.

Overall, we had a great evening out and Chhori enjoyed it a lot too.

Have a great day everyone.

ID and key card

These days I am travelling a lot between different offices for my job.

The other day when I went from one office to another which was around 10 minutes’ drive, I realised that I had lost my employee ID and security pass.

I was panicking when one of my colleague emailed to let me know that someone had found the ID and handed it back.I was happy and relieved to know that.

Anyway I returned to the office and parked the car. As soon as I got out of the car, one of the tradesmen who was working on one of the building nearby came and said, “You are M right? We found the pass and gave it to the office.” I was thankful and thanked him and walked passed.

Within few second, another tradesman came to me and said, “Hello M, we have given your ID and pass back when we found it this afternoon.”

I thanked him again and walked literally for a second, there was 3rd and 4th guys telling me the same thing.

I was very grateful that they had found the id card and handed it back but all the attention I was getting when I walked from the car park to the office made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I am famous in that worksite for sure 🙂

Have you lost and found something important? Do share your story.

Have a great day everyone.

Pyjama day @ childcare

Chhori’s childcare organises different events every week to keep the kids entertained. I like it as it gives us something to look forward to as well.

Lat week, they had Pyjama Day and we made sure Chhori was dress in her PJ and cute shoes.

When AS went to drop her off in the morning, he had to sign an agreement to say that we are OK for her to watch the movie “Moana”.

I had loved the movie when we watched it few months ago.

Anyway when I went to pick her up, there was a parcel next to her bag. The teacher informed us that she had won the best dressed award in her class. It is her first prize from the childcare and even though it is nothing big, we feel so proud. I guess all parents are like this 🙂

They gave her a parcel filled with balloons, lollies, bubbles and some small toys. I am sure Chhori didn’t understand the reason behind the parcel but was excited to see the lollies and toys.

On the other hand, my nephew didn’t understand why he didn’t get an award as well and was quite upset.

Kids can be so funny and cute.

Do share your own moments that your kids made you proud.

Have a great day everyone.

Easy shortbread biscuits

I am always trying to find easy recipes so I can make it quickly and this is definitely one of them.

Ingredients

  • 150g plain flour
  • 100g butter
  • 50g icing sugar

Method

  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  • Chop butter into small cubes.

  • Put flour, butter and icing sugar together into a bowl and mash them with your fingers until they mix.

  • Now kneed the mixture to form a firm dough.
  • Roll out the dough onto the bench and put some plastic wrap over it.

  • Use a rolling pin to make it flat around 1 cm high

  • Use a cookie cutter and cut them into your favourite shapes.

  • Line a tray with baking paper and grease it lightly.
  • Put the cut cookies onto the baking tray. Make sure you leave enough room (at least 1 cm) between the cookies as they will expand.

  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Do not let the cookies go brown

  • Take the cookies out of the oven and rest for 2 hours.
  • Serve the cookies with tea or coffee or place them in an air tight container for later.

Have a great day everyone.
