Sun, Sea and Sand, here we come

I think every winter I have written a post on how much I hate winter and it is no exception this year so I am very excite to be going away from this cold weather to enjoy lots of sun, sea and sand.

Working out at 8 degree in the morning and layering on multiple clothes during the day, this winter has not done me much favor. So I am excited to be leaving this cold weather for a warm hot tropical paradise :).

The packing is done, my hat, bikini and thongs are ready to enjoy the sun and I am ready to feel the water at the beach.

Hawaii holds a special place in my heart as I have meant to go there forever. I don’t know why but I always wanted to go there and for one reason or another couldn’t make it until now. When AS and I talked about it before the wedding, we even planned to go there for our honeymoon. Instead we went to Vietnam as we didn’t have many days left after a big wedding in Nepal.

Anyways no more complaints, instead my mind is full of ideas on what to do once we get there. I have a long list of places in my mind like

Please let me know if I have missed out the obvious. I am also planning to eat at the following recommended places. Please do add more if you know any good eateries.

  • Eggs and things
  • F. Chang’s
  • Udon Noodle place
  • Ihop
  • Cheesecake factory

And of course shopping is definitely on the cards as usual :).

A friend of mine, as I mentioned in a previous post, will be with us for the whole time which will make this holiday even more memorable.

Please do add any other things you know about Hawaii that we should experience.

Anyway guys until I blog again, take care and have a great week.

Kids and their toys

Anyone with kids know that toys are every expensive. From the day babies are born, you spend money on one thing or another. Of course how much you spend is up to you but there are basics you need to have.

Anyway, once having Chhori, we discovered that toys for kids are quite expensive. Before, we used to buy them as gifts so we didn’t think much as we are buying one at a time but now we need to buy more often and they need to be age appropriate too.

While we were growing up in Nepal, we didn’t have that many choices of toys and I used to go out and play a lot with other kids. But kids these days seem to stay inside and play with their toys a lot more.

We definitely wanted Chhori to have the necessary toys for her development as every parent wants their kids to be smart. Chhori is definitely lucky that she has got amazing and loving people around her who bring so many toys for her. She has an accumulation so many toys already and she is just 1.

Chhori (1)

But in the last one year, I have discovered that, a kid doesn’t always need expensive toys. They are happy with an empty bottle too. Anything new is interesting to them.

Despite having so many toys, I see Chhori spending hours playing with and empty milk bottle or juice carton or take away boxes. When she was smaller and couldn’t open boxes, I used to put a spoon inside a take away container so it rattled and she used to love it.

This has made me question how many expensive toys should we buy her in the future? Until she can ask (demand is probably the right word) for toys herself, I am thinking to keep them to a minimum so that she can explore other things and use her imagination as well.

What is your opinion on this matter? How often do/did you buy toys for your kids? Is there an age where they need to have certain toys?

Take care everyone,

Enjoying Zumba

As I mentioned in my last post, I have joined a gym and every Thursday I look forward to the Zumba class.

Zumba is a Latin-inspired cardio-dance workout that uses music and choreographed steps to form a fitness party atmosphere. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. The choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo.

As I love dancing, it is the perfect workout for me and I enjoy it so much.

I had heard about Zumba for years but had never joined one; now I am so glad to be going to one.

The first time I went to the class, I was a bit scared as I didn’t know what to expect but one hour in a room with people who were psyched about having a good time and dancing around to high-energy Latin music was a great experience. The class is full of men and women of all ages and sizes. You don’t need any dance experience or skills, only the willingness to enjoy the fun class.

I enjoy the class so much I feel as if the one hour has just gone too fast. I sweat so much that I know my body had good workout. I am still learning so I don’t do all the steps well but that doesn’t matter as I know I will get better with time.

Anyone who is into Zumba, do give me a few tips that was useful to you and those who have never tried one, do join it if you love dancing. You don’t feel like you are exercising and you will be having a great fun workout.

Take care,

Pepper story

I have a sore throat for the last few days and it is really annoying me. I am drinking warm water with honey all the time it still is not getting any better.

Last night, it was so bad that I couldn’t even drink water properly so AS suggested putting some whole pepper in my mouth. He asked me to leave it until it got soft and it would break apart by itself and chewing on small pieces helps the sore throat (it really does). As I had a few peppers in my mouth, we had the following conversation.

Me: “Babe what happens if I swallow the whole peeper by mistake?

AS: “It will go inside your tummy

I was asking what really would happen if I ate the whole pepper but in the midst of doing his things, it was the best answer he came up with. I couldn’t help but laugh.

Take care everyone,
