Chhori said :Passing on the Donut

So, lately, Chhori’s been tagging along on my Sunday walks which we usually go with one of my friends and her daughter. We start off together, but after about 45 minutes, we drop the kids off at home and continue on to finish our 10-kilometer run while the kids have breakfast.

Last week, when we got back, I asked Chhori what she had for breakfast at my friend’s place, and she said she had some bread and eggs. But then, she dropped a surprise – my friend’s daughter had offered her a donut, and she turned it down!

I was stunned and had to ask why, because, let me tell you, this girl loves her donuts. Her response? “Well, didn’t you tell me to eat less junk food? So, I figured it was too early to indulge on the doughnuts.”
I couldn’t believe my ears! I’ve been preaching the gospel of healthy eating and cutting down on junk food to both my kids, but I never realised it was sinking in this well.

I’m beyond proud of Chhori’s decision, and I hope this sets the tone for her making healthy choices for the rest of her life. Proud mum moment, indeed!

Chhori said : Wish Upon an Eyelash

There’s a little quirk about me: ever since I was a kid, whenever I spot an eyelash fall on someone’s face, I scoop it up and initiate the eyelash wish ritual. You know the drill – close your eyes, blow the lash away, and make a wish. It’s a tradition I’ve carried into adulthood, and now, even with my own kiddos.
The other day, as I was cruising along with Chhori in the car, I caught sight of an eyelash perched on her cheek. Naturally, I seized the moment and prompted her to close her eyes, make a wish, and blow it away. And guess what? She did!

After it was done, I couldn’t resist asking her what she wished for. At first, she hesitated, but then she spilled the beans – she wished for a million bucks. Classic, right? But here’s the kicker: her reasoning melted my heart. She wanted to buy food so I wouldn’t have to work as much. Talk about being considerate!

Of course, I had to play it cool and not get all emotional. So, I casually mentioned that a million dollars is a pretty hefty sum and asked if she had any other wishes. And you know what she said? She wanted to jet off to Japan with the family, flying business class no less!

Now, Japan has been on her mind for a while, and even though we’ve been there before, she doesn’t remember much. Looks like I’ll have to start planning that Japan trip soon!

Do you have any quirky traditions like our eyelash wishes? I’d love to hear your stories!

The Famous Bali Swings

When we decided to jet off to Bali, the Bali Swing was at the top of my must-try list! And boy, it did not disappoint. Here’s the lowdown on this epic adventure:

Types of Swings: Bali swings come in all shapes and sizes! From traditional swings to single, tandem, and even extreme swings that soar high above canyons and gorges. There’s something for every thrill-seeker’s preference and comfort level.

Best Locations: You can find these incredible swings all over Bali, but the hotspots are definitely in Ubud, Tegalalang, and the surrounding areas. Many resorts and adventure parks include swings as part of their attractions, making it easy to add this experience to your itinerary.

Our Swing Adventure: Our tour guide took us to a fantastic spot where we paid 25k IDR for the swing and a dress rental. Yes, you heard right – you can choose a dress! I went with a vibrant red one, my favourite colour, and it looked amazing in the photos. We had a short wait for our turn, which just built up the excitement. When it was finally our turn, they gave us a push, and off we went, soaring through the air. It was exhilarating! And the photo ops? Simply out of this world. AS snapped tons of pictures, and the kind lady from the venue took even more. I absolutely loved all the photos from that day – definitely Instagram-worthy!

Photography Tips: If you’re into photography, Bali swings are a dream come true. Many operators offer professional photography services for an additional fee, so you can capture every moment perfectly. Just make sure your camera or smartphone is secure before you start swinging. And don’t forget to check out the nests in the area – they make for some fantastic shots too!

Have you been to Bali and tried the swings? I’d love to hear about your experience! Share your stories and let’s relive the adventure together!

Chhori said : When Your Workout Turns Deadly… Kind Of

So, picture this: I’ve been hitting the gym pretty hard this week, you know, trying to stay fit and all that jazz. But today, when I finally plopped down on my sofa after a particularly intense HIIT session, I realised something… my legs were not happy campers.

I attempted to get up, but it felt like my legs were staging a rebellion against me. So, naturally, I blurted out, “My legs are killing me!”

And guess who decides to chime in, none other than my wise little Chhori. She looks at me with this innocent expression and goes, “How can your legs be killing you? It’s not like they have a knife!”

Seriously, folks, I was speechless. 😂 Anyway, just another day in the life of a fitness enthusiast trying to navigate the hazards of post-workout soreness!

Morning person !!!

Rise and shine, fellow early birds! Mornings are my jam, and I love kicking off my day with a burst of energy. Whether it’s a weekday or the weekend, you’ll find me up and at between 5:30 and 6:30 am, ready to conquer the day.

First things first: making my bed is non-negotiable. It sets the tone for a productive day ahead and gives me an instant sense of accomplishment. Plus, there’s something oddly satisfying about straightening those sheets and fluffing those pillows!

Then, it’s time to squeeze in some exercise – a weekday ritual that keeps me feeling strong and energised. Whether it’s a brisk morning walk or a HIIT session in the park, getting the heart pumping is the perfect way to jumpstart my day.

Weekends are a whole different ball game. By the time the kids are up and about, I’ve already crushed my workout and tackled a few household chores. It’s pure bliss having extra time to bond with the family and enjoy leisurely mornings together. Pancake breakfasts, cosy pajama parties, and impromptu dance-offs in the kitchen – you name it, we do it!

Of course, every yin has its yang – and for me, it’s the early bedtime struggle. I’m all about that beauty sleep, aiming to hit the hay by 9 pm to ensure I’m bright-eyed and bushy-tailed the next morning. But hey, sometimes social catch up or a late-night movie marathon with the hubby throws off my schedule – and that’s okay too!

In my household, I’m the resident early riser, while AS and Chhora prefer to burn the midnight oil. But Chhori? She’s my little early bird buddy, greeting the day with a stack of books and a heart full of curiosity. It warms my heart to see her embrace the joy of the mornings, and I hope she carries this love life-long. Here’s to starting each day with a smile and a whole lot of sunshine!

The perk of waking up early is that you get to enjoy the beautiful sunrise. I even captured this mesmerising video of one last week!

There’s something truly magical about witnessing the world wake up, bathed in the soft hues of dawn. It sets a serene tone for the day ahead and fills me with gratitude.

How about you? Are you an early riser, or do you thrive in the late-night hours? Let me know your morning routine!
