Breakfast Bliss at Sea World Resort

When it comes to booking a holiday, there’s always one thing at the top of my checklist: a hotel with a breakfast buffet. It might sound simple, but to me, there’s something so satisfying about starting the day with a variety of delicious options laid out before you. And at Sea World Resort, the breakfast buffet did not disappoint—it was the perfect way to kick off our mornings during our stay.

Walking into the buffet, we were greeted with the irresistible aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon. The sheer variety was overwhelming in the best possible way. From fluffy pancakes and golden waffles to perfectly scrambled eggs and an assortment of pastries, there was something for everyone. My kids were in heaven! They went back for seconds—and thirds—trying everything from cereal and fruit to the pancake station with all the toppings they could dream of.

For me, the highlight was the fresh fruit bar paired with creamy yoghurt and granola, followed closely by the chef’s omelette station. There’s something about watching your breakfast being cooked right in front of you that feels special. My husband, of course, headed straight for the hearty options—sausages, hash browns, and mushrooms—and he didn’t stop raving about it.

What I love most about breakfast buffets like this is that it’s not just a meal; it’s an experience. It sets the tone for the rest of the day. Everyone is happy, well-fed, and ready for the adventures ahead. Whether it’s a day at the park, the pool, or exploring new places, it’s always better with a full stomach and a smile.

The kids are already asking when we can go back, and honestly, I don’t blame them. Sea World Resort didn’t just tick the box for a breakfast buffet—it raised the bar. If you’re like me and believe a great breakfast makes a holiday even better, this place should be on your list.

The Skillion

While exploring the Central Coast, we decided to take on The Skillion at Terrigal, and it did not disappoint! The walk up this iconic headland is a bit of a challenge, but it’s the kind of workout that rewards you at every step, with stunning scenery to keep you motivated.

The path is paved with a well-maintained concrete pathway, making it accessible, and there are seats along the way if you need to catch your breath or simply enjoy the view as you ascend. Once you reach the top, you’re greeted with a panoramic view that’s nothing short of breathtaking. The coastline stretches endlessly in both directions, and you get a perfect vantage point of Terrigal Beach and the surrounding landscape. It’s a photographer’s dream and an absolute must for anyone visiting the Central Coast.

What I love about the walk up to The Skillion is that it’s designed for all types of adventurers. The steeper sections are made easier with handrails and steps, so it’s as safe as it is scenic. Whether you’re an avid hiker or just out for a leisurely stroll, this walk offers something for everyone. On a warm, sunny day with blue skies overhead, there’s no better way to spend your time than to climb up and enjoy the fresh coastal breeze and the uninterrupted ocean views.

The headland itself is a natural wonder. The exposed layers of rock tell a geological story, with the striking rock formations below creating a rugged platform that’s just as interesting as the views from above. There’s a sense of history and timelessness in these ancient cliffs, and it’s easy to spend a few extra moments just taking it all in.

For those looking for a serene yet invigorating experience, The Skillion is the perfect spot. It’s a straightforward walk, suitable for all fitness levels, and the views are more than worth the effort. If you ever find yourself in the Central Coast, don’t miss the chance to visit this gem—you won’t regret it!

Our Bali Adventure: Preparation

We finally took the plunge and headed to Bali, and I regret waiting so long to visit this tropical paradise. Despite Bali being a top destination for Aussies, it hasn’t always had the best reputation here. The Bali bombings and high-profile drug cases had made many Australians, including me, a bit wary about travelling there. But I’m thrilled to report that our trip was absolutely amazing, and I’ve got a heap of stories to share with you!

We explored stunning temples, breathtaking waterfalls, and lush gardens. Our entire family had a blast. But before we dive into our adventures, let me write about how we prepped for our Bali trip as a family of four.

Our Preparation Checklist for Bali with Two Kids (Ages 4 and 9):

  1. Passport Validity: Made sure our passports were valid for at least six months from our arrival date in Indonesia.
  2. Visas:
    • For us Aussies, we got a visa on arrival for AUD $52 each.
    • For AS with a Nepali passport, we sorted out a visa through a travel agent in Sydney, which cost AUD $390.
  3. Travel Insurance: Bought comprehensive travel insurance to cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and any unexpected events.
  4. Vaccinations and Health Precautions: Visited our GP and got all the recommended vaccinations, costing about AUD$500 for the whole family.
  5. Medications and First-Aid Kit: Packed essential meds and a basic first-aid kit with bandages, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers.
  6. Hotel Reservations: Booked our stay at the Bintang Bali Resort through Bookings.com for around AUD$185 a night.
  7. Packing: Packed summer clothes, swimwear, sunscreen, hats, and mosquito repellent.
  8. Entertainment: Downloaded movies and series for us and offline games and movies for the kids, making sure everyone had headphones.
  9. Travel Adapters and Chargers: Brought the necessary power adapters and chargers for our devices.
  10. Money and Currency: Used our 28-degree travel card for most payments and carried some Aussie dollars to exchange for local currency.
  11. Transportation: Arranged a driver to pick us up from the airport and help with tours during our stay for $60 per day.
  12. Travel Documents Backup: Emailed digital scans of our important travel documents to ourselves for safekeeping.
  13. Google Maps: Downloaded an offline map of Bali on Google Maps for easy navigation.

I hope this checklist helps anyone planning a family trip to Bali. Stay tuned for my upcoming posts where I’ll share all the fantastic places we visited. Until then, take care and happy travels!

Konichiwa Japan

We booked our trip to Japan and Korea last year, more than 6 months in advance. I was really excited because I had always wanted to go to Japan and going to Korea was a bonus.

We did some research about Japan before booking the hotels. We quickly realised that hotels are quite expensive and small in Japan but we were still very excited to go.

We started telling Chhori about our holiday a few months in advance so she was so excited about it too. She would tell people and even her friends in Childcare that she will be going to Japan and Korea in such a cute voice.

Anyway finally the day came and we all packed and headed to the airport.

We flew Qantas and it was one of the best flights we have had. The service and food were both amazing and I am definitely going to fly with them more often.

We first flew from Sydney to Melbourne where we had a 3 hour stopover then 9 hours to Tokyo.

Chhori was amazing in the flight with no dramas. She ate her food and was busy watching Peppa pig on her tablet. She napped for a few hours and was fresh again before we landed.

It was evening when we landed in Tokyo and it was quite nice as we went from cold winter to nice warm summer.

After we collected our luggage, we went and got a sim card and tickets to the bus. The hotel was a bit away from the city so it was cheaper to catch a bus from the airport and then a cab the rest of the way.

The hotel was great location with a metro station just next to it but the room was a bit small as we had known.

The bathroom was just enough to fit a bathtub, toilet and wash basin.

The toilet fascinated us with so many buttons. If you don’t know what I am talking about, just imagine a toilet with auto lid and seat where you can adjust the seat temperature. The toilet where you can use water to clean but it is all automatic with adjustable water temperature and multiple water outlet to spray your bottom. The toiles also had features like self-sterilizing nozzles, air deodorizer, adjustable water pressure, noise/music player, warm air dry, night light etc. to name some.

The toilets definitely kept us amused and it was fun to discover the different features while were in the loo.

That day we were too tired to do anything so we just ate dinner and went to bed.

We had an amazing time in Tokyo and I will post about all our experience in the coming post.

Till then take care everyone,

Gardens by the Bay , Singapore

When we decided to go to Singapore, many people recommend Garden by the Bay. The last time I had been to Singapore, it was not there yet so I was excited to visit the garden.

Garden by the Bay is definitely not your ordinary garden but a futuristic wonder that seems to be beamed down from space and might just be the best tourist attraction in Singapore.

It is Singapore’s largest garden spanning a total of 101 hectares of prime land right beside the spectacular Marina Bay. It is a part of Singapore’s vision of becoming a “City in a Garden”.

There are 10 different areas in the garden which are:

  1. Cloud Forest Conservatory
  2. Flower Dome Conservatory
  3. OCBC Skyway
  4. Supertree Grove
  5. Bay East Garden
  6. World of Plants
  7. Dragonfly and Kingfisher Lakes
  8. Far East Organization Children’s Garden
  9. Sun Pavilion
  10. Heritage Gardens

The first one we visited was the Flower Dome. The dome is the world’s largest “columnless” greenhouse in the world. The conservatories’ glass sits on a steel grid that acts like an eggshell. This dome is home to a lot of flowers and plants. It was so huge, modern, and cold that I was glad we had light jackets and sweaters with us.

There are a lot of plant collections from different countries including Australia. There are labels and audio tour guides to provide you with more information about the plants as well.

As it was Christmas time so there were Christmas trees and lights everywhere and Chhori loved it.

We spent a few hours there before we moved to The Cloud Forest. This was my favourite of all the places in the garden.

It was awesome with a huge 35 meter man made mountain dominating the dome, but what really tops it off is the tallest indoor waterfall in the world thundering down one side. You can explore the interior of the mountain, which includes a treetop boardwalk, stalactites and stalagmites and some great views of the Marina Bay area including the famous Marina Bay Sands).

As soon as we walkd in this huge waterfall welcomed us and it was amazing to look at. From there we queue up for the lift which will took us to the top level of the mountain and then we could go down the cloud walk.

It is so fun to walk down the amazing path from which you can see different views from different floors.

We then went and visited the Super Trees and were amazed by the way it looked. I can only describe it as “out of this world” because it looked like a scene from a sci-fi movie. We were very impressed to say the least.

The trees are absolutely massive. There are a total of 18 Supertrees, all located within Bay South Garden at Gardens by the Bay. Among the 18, eleven of which are fitted with solar photolytic system to generate solar energy, providing lighting for the two conservatories located within the attraction. Apart from that, its exposed funnel-shaped top also helps to collect and store rainwater for use in irrigation and waterfall display within the conservatories.

We walked around and took a few pics of the various trees but as it was raining and a bit windy, the skybridge was closed unfortunately.

When we were there we found out that the Super Trees have a light show in the evening so we decided to come back again in the night.

Gardens by the Bay at night is super beautiful as the lights are everywhere. If you think the super trees are cool during the day then you’ll be blown away when you see them at night. The light show are at 7.45 and at 8.45 pm and it energises the trees with electric colours that makes them pulsate and looks amazing.

We just sat on the floor and enjoyed the light show and felt really luckily to have seen it. After the show there were fireworks in the Marina Bay which was superb too.

We also walked through Sun Pavilion and Heritage Gardens in the afternoon but it was sprinkling so we decided not to do the other parts of the garden.

Overall we had a great time in the garden and I would highly recommend everyone to visit the garden. If you have time start early and stay till the night light and I assure you, you will love it.
