A Fun-Filled Family Day at Salamanca Market, Hobart

If you’re visiting Hobart, Salamanca Market is one experience you simply can’t miss. Held every Saturday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Salamanca Place, this lively open-air market is a true celebration of local Tasmanian culture, creativity, and community.

With over 300 unique stalls, the market offers everything from handmade crafts, artisan jewellery, homewares, and clothing to farm-fresh produce, gourmet foods, and local delicacies. The energy is fantastic, filled with music, colour, and the smell of delicious food wafting through the air.

We visited the market with the family and had such a lovely time. There were rows of vibrant stalls, and the kids loved weaving through them, choosing their own snacks, and picking out souvenirs to take home. We bought some beautiful souvenirs, ate fresh fruits, tried a few different street foods, and even treated ourselves to locally made sweets and baked goods.

It’s a great spot for families because there’s something for everyone—treats for the kids, handcrafted gifts, and fresh ingredients to take back home. Plus, the friendly stallholders made the experience even better by sharing stories behind their products.

The market is set against the beautiful backdrop of historic sandstone buildings and is just a short walk from the waterfront, making it perfect for a relaxed Saturday morning stroll.

We all left with happy hearts, full bellies, and bags of goodies. Salamanca Market truly captures the charm of Hobart—warm, welcoming, and full of character.

Highly recommend adding it to your itinerary if you’re ever in Tasmania!

Too good to Go App : Worth the Surprise!

I finally gave the @toogoodtogo.au app a try — and I’m so glad I did! It’s an awesome app that connects you with local cafés, bakeries, and restaurants to rescue perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste. The idea is simple: pay a small price for a “surprise bag”, and get around three times the value in return!

I grabbed a bag from Bakers Delight for just $10, and here’s what we got:

🥐 Spinach & feta Danish
🧀 Cheesymite scroll
🍰 Custard almond teatime loaf
🍫 Choc chip hot cross buns

The total value was over $30, and everything was fresh and delicious. No complaints here — just happy tummies and less food waste! 😋

It’s a fun and affordable way to try something new while doing good for the planet. Highly recommend giving it a go if you haven’t already!
