Our Girls’ Getaway at Hilton Cairns – Sunshine, Champagne & So Many Laughs

Just got back from the most unforgettable girls’ trip to Cairns, and I can’t stop thinking about how perfect it was—especially our stay at the Hilton Cairns.

We booked three rooms for the six of us, and from the moment we arrived, it felt like the perfect little escape from real life. The hotel itself was stunning, right on the water with those dreamy views that make you stop and take it all in. Waking up to the sight of palm trees and the Coral Sea sparkling in the morning sun? Absolutely unreal.

The rooms were gorgeous—spacious, clean, and super comfy, with big windows that made the most of that beautiful Queensland light. Whether we were getting ready for a night out or winding down after a full day of exploring, it felt like our own little slice of paradise.

But what really made the stay so special was the staff. They were friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful the whole way through. They even organised a late check-out for us, which was a lifesaver after one too many celebratory champagnes the night before!

And speaking of celebrations—one of the girls had her birthday while we were there, and the team at Hilton went above and beyond. When we walked into the room, there was a beautiful birthday cake waiting for us and a bottle of chilled champagne, all arranged so thoughtfully. It made her day, and honestly, it made the rest of us feel pretty spoiled too. Little touches like that really do stick with you.

We spent our days soaking up the sun, doing a bit of sightseeing, and just enjoying each other’s company. It was the kind of trip that fills your cup in all the best ways—laughs, chats, naps, cocktails, and no schedules.

If you’re thinking about booking a stay at Hilton Cairns—do it. It was the perfect base for our tropical escape, and we couldn’t be more grateful for how well we were looked after.

A big thank you to the Hilton team for making our trip one to remember. We’re already talking about coming back next year!

Why Every Mum Needs a Girls’ Getaway

Just got back from the most amazing girls’ trip to Cairns, and wow—I didn’t realise how much I needed that break until I was in it.

We booked a lovely hotel right near the water, the kind where you wake up to palm trees and sunshine pouring through the curtains. We planned a few excursions— just enough to feel like we were doing something special. Think reef tours, beach strolls, cocktails by the pool… the good stuff.

Coming from soggy, cold Sydney, stepping into Cairns’ warm tropical weather felt like heaven. No jumpers, no rain, just that beautiful Far North Queensland sunshine that instantly lifts your mood. We were living in our swimmers and sundresses, and honestly, I didn’t miss the layers one bit.

But the best part? The company. There’s something so special about being with your girls—no pressure, no roles to play, just open chats and loads of laughs. We talked about everything and nothing, stayed up too late, danced like no one was watching, and just enjoyed being ourselves. It’s amazing how much lighter you feel when you’re surrounded by people who really get you.

And that’s why I’ll never stop saying how important these little escapes are. Life is busy, and as mums, partners, workers—we’re always doing something for someone else. But there’s real magic in stepping away for a bit and just being you.

If you’ve been thinking about planning a girls’ trip—do it. Don’t overthink it. You don’t need a massive budget or a long itinerary. Just pick a place, gather your favourite people, and go. The laughs, the chats, the memories—it’s all so worth it.

To my beautiful girls, thank you for being exactly what I needed. My heart feels full, my spirit feels light, and I already can’t wait for the next one. 💛🌴🍹

Escape at Caves Beach

If you’re looking to book a holiday around the Central Coast area and you love the beach, I highly recommend Escape at Caves Beaches Cottage, located at Caves Beach. We stayed there recently, and it was absolutely wonderful.

You can book the property easily through Airbnb. The house is beautifully maintained, spacious, and comfortably accommodates up to seven people. It’s fully equipped with all the necessary amenities, including a covered outdoor space, a barbecue area, and even a play area for the kids – perfect for family getaways.

The cottage is only a 10-minute walk to the stunning Caves Beach, where we enjoyed unforgettable sunrises and relaxing beach days. The location is brilliant, with plenty of lovely cafes, restaurants, and hangout spots nearby. There’s also a shopping centre just a short drive away, making it very convenient if you’re planning to cook your own meals – the kitchen had everything we needed.

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the caves at low tide – it’s a magical experience to walk inside and explore. If you do stay there, I highly recommend waking up early for sunrise at the beach. It’s truly worth it.

We had a fantastic time and would definitely return. Escape to the Beaches Cottage is a perfect choice if you’re after a relaxing, beachside escape with family or friends.

A Heartwarming Mother’s Day Morning

As I slowly woke, the delightful aroma of a freshly cooked breakfast wafted through the house. My husband and the kids were up to something – the joyful whispers and excited giggles were a giveaway. Moments later, they burst into the room with a tray – a beautiful spread of golden toast, perfectly cooked eggs, grilled halloumi, sautéed mushrooms, and crispy hash browns. My heart melted, not just at the sight of the delicious feast but at the love they had poured into making it.

But the surprises didn’t end there. My little ones eagerly handed me the gifts they had made and chosen with so much love. Gorgeous handwritten cards, a beautifully designed pen and notepad – treasures from school that I would forever cherish. And from my husband, a pair of soft, cosy UGGs and a stylish wallet – practical and thoughtful, just like him.

As I sipped my warm coffee and enjoyed the lovingly prepared breakfast in bed, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. Mother’s Day is more than the gifts or the perfect breakfast – it’s about those precious moments when love is served with a smile, and memories are made in the simplest of ways.

This Mother’s Day was a reminder that sometimes, the best gifts are the ones that touch the heart, wrapped in the laughter of loved ones and sealed with a hug.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day too. I feel so blessed and incredibly lucky to be the mum of these two beautiful kids.
