Escaping Sydney’s Winter – Chasing Sunshine with the Ones I Love β˜€οΈπŸŒ΄

There is something magical about the winter school holidays. Every year, as the temperatures in Sydney begin to drop and the chilly mornings become harder to face, I find myself counting down the days until we can pack our bags and head somewhere warm.

For me, these holidays are about so much more than a change of scenery. They’re about pressing pause on our busy routines, stepping away from work, school and everyday responsibilities, and spending uninterrupted time with the people who matter most.

Can you guess where we’ve escaped to this winter? Here’s a hint: blue skies, warm sunshine, tropical breezes, crystal-clear water and the kind of weather that makes you forget it’s winter back home.

There’s something incredibly refreshing about swapping jackets and scarves for shorts, sandals and swimsuits. Waking up to sunshine instead of grey skies instantly lifts your mood, and watching the kids run around with endless energy reminds me how precious these moments really are.

The school holidays are always something I look forward to. Life moves so quickly, and between work commitments, school schedules, sports and everything else, quality family time can sometimes be hard to find. These holidays give us the chance to slow down, laugh together, explore new places and create memories that will stay with us for years to come.

One of the greatest blessings is being able to share these experiences across three generations. Travelling with my parents while watching them enjoy precious moments with their grandchildren is something I never take for granted. Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces, hearing the laughter and simply being together reminds me that these are the moments that truly matter.

Watching the kids discover new places, splash in the warm ocean, collect seashells, chase fish in the clear water and enjoy every little adventure fills my heart with joy. Their excitement is contagious, and it reminds me to appreciate life’s simple pleasures.

Travelling isn’t just about the destination; it’s about reconnecting with each other. It’s about slowing down enough to enjoy breakfast together, watching sunsets, sharing stories over dinner, taking long walks and making memories that no photograph can fully capture.

I’m incredibly grateful that we’re able to take this time away as a family. These holidays remind me that the best investment we can make isn’t in thingsβ€”it’s in experiences, shared laughter and quality time with the people we love.

As we soak up the sunshine, I know these moments will become cherished memories long after we’ve returned home to Sydney’s winter. The tan will fade, the suitcases will be unpacked and life will return to normal, but the memories we’ve created together will stay with us forever.

Here’s to sunshine, family adventures, grateful hearts and making the most of every school holiday. Sometimes the best thing you can do is escape the cold, embrace the warmth and simply enjoy being together.

Until next time, we’ll be making the most of every sunny day while Sydney waits for us with its winter chill. β˜€οΈβ€οΈ

15 Years, a Lifetime of Memories β€οΈβœ¨

Yesterday we celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary, and my heart feels so full reflecting on how far we’ve come.

I still remember starting this blog around the same time we got married and sharing our wedding journey. Back then, I never imagined how many people would connect with our story, show interest in Nepali and Newari culture and traditions, and follow along through different chapters of our life. It has been such a beautiful journey to share those moments and memories.

And now… here we are, 15 years later.

Fifteen years of growing together, learning together, supporting each other and creating a life that feels bigger and more beautiful than I ever imagined. Looking back, I truly feel so blessed that I found my person ,the one who makes ordinary days feel special and who stands beside me through every season of life.

To my husband : thank you for your love, patience, encouragement and for being my safe place. Thank you for all the laughs, the late-night chats, the adventures, the teamwork and for showing up every single day for our family. Through every challenge and every joyful moment, you have been my greatest blessing.

These 15 years have given us so much : a home filled with love, endless memories and most importantly, our two beautiful kids who make life louder, messier, funnier and infinitely more meaningful. From family trips, pool days, birthday celebrations, silly dances in the kitchen, school runs, cuddles, endless questions and all the little everyday moments , these are the memories I treasure most. Watching our kids grow while growing together as a couple has been the greatest adventure of all.

Marriage isn’t just about the big milestones ,it’s built in the small moments, choosing each other again and again, laughing through the chaos and finding joy in everyday life.

After 15 years, I can honestly say I still feel incredibly lucky to walk through life with you by my side. I love you more than words can ever express, and I cannot wait for many more years of happiness, adventures, traditions, family moments and memories still to come. ❀️

Here’s to 15 years down and forever to go πŸ₯‚βœ¨

Happy birthday AS πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‚

December has always been special to me β€” not just because of Christmas or school holidays β€” but because it’s the month my favourite person was born. Yes, AS birthday falls in December, and that alone makes this month extra meaningful.

This man deserves to be celebrated every single day. He is an incredible husband, a loving and hands-on father, and truly my rock. He supports us, protects us and loves our little family with his whole heart. Watching him with our two kids fills me with so much pride β€” he’s patient, caring, fun, and always there for them. They are so lucky to have him, and honestly, so am I.

We kicked off his birthday with a morning surprise β€” bells ringing, decorations everywhere, a beautiful cake, and thoughtful gifts to make him feel as special as he truly is. The smiles said it all. Later, we went out for brunch at a lovely cafΓ© and spent quality time together. He enjoyed a big breakfast, I had avocado, eggs and toast, and the kids happily devoured their pancakes. Simple moments, lots of laughs, and so much love.

It was such a beautiful day celebrating a man who gives so much to us every day. Happy Birthday to my favourite human β€” thank you for being you, for being ours, and for making December my favourite month of all 🀍

Fourteen Years of Us – 24 June 2025

My Love,
Happy 14th Anniversary! πŸ’•

Fourteen years ago, we began this journey with nothing but love and hope, unsure of where life would take us. But hand in hand, we’ve built something truly beautiful.

Together, we’ve created a life I once only dreamed of β€” filled with laughter, love, our amazing kids, and unforgettable memories from travelling the world. Every moment with you has been a treasure I hold close to my heart.

Thank you for being the calm in my chaos, the strength behind my dreams, and the reason even the most ordinary days feel extraordinary. Your hard work, unwavering love, and constant support mean the world to me.

You’ve helped me believe in possibilities, turn dreams into reality, and embrace every part of this journey. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to grow, laugh, cry, and dance through life with.

Here’s to us β€” our little world, the love we’ve nurtured, and all the adventures still waiting for us.

With all my love,

M from Nepaliaustralian

A Heartwarming Mother’s Day Morning

As I slowly woke, the delightful aroma of a freshly cooked breakfast wafted through the house. My husband and the kids were up to something – the joyful whispers and excited giggles were a giveaway. Moments later, they burst into the room with a tray – a beautiful spread of golden toast, perfectly cooked eggs, grilled halloumi, sautΓ©ed mushrooms, and crispy hash browns. My heart melted, not just at the sight of the delicious feast but at the love they had poured into making it.

But the surprises didn’t end there. My little ones eagerly handed me the gifts they had made and chosen with so much love. Gorgeous handwritten cards, a beautifully designed pen and notepad – treasures from school that I would forever cherish. And from my husband, a pair of soft, cosy UGGs and a stylish wallet – practical and thoughtful, just like him.

As I sipped my warm coffee and enjoyed the lovingly prepared breakfast in bed, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. Mother’s Day is more than the gifts or the perfect breakfast – it’s about those precious moments when love is served with a smile, and memories are made in the simplest of ways.

This Mother’s Day was a reminder that sometimes, the best gifts are the ones that touch the heart, wrapped in the laughter of loved ones and sealed with a hug.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day too. I feel so blessed and incredibly lucky to be the mum of these two beautiful kids.
