Chhori’s first time in pool

As it is very hot this spring, we decided that it would be a good time for Chhori to start going swimming. Of course, she won’t swim but I wanted her to get used to water.

Normally when she has her bath she loves it so we thought it was a good sign. I bought a few swim suits for her even before she was born. The excitement of having a baby girl took me shopping many times while I was pregnant and on one of those trips I bought a beautiful one piece suit.

To make it easy for her, we went and bought floaters so we don’t need to hold her all the time and she too will be free to enjoy the water.

We got her ready at home with her swimming nappy and the new swimming custom. She seemed excited already.

At the pool I took her into the water so she could get used to it before getting her into the floater. She was a pro, playing and kicking with excitement. The only bad thing was she wanted to drink the water and kept taking her tongue out. 🙂

After a while, we put her in her floater and we swam while she enjoyed floating around. She was thrilled to be in the water and her expression was priceless.

We plan to take her to swim classes soon but in the mean time we just want her to get used to the water so she will learn how to swim quicker when the time comes.

Just a quick question for everyone with kids; what is a good age to send kids to swimming class? And when did your bub start swimming on their own?

Take care everyone till the next post.

  1. Wow, she has grown so much! What a sweetheart she is. You must be so proud. My grandsons started at 6 months old. Drinking and licking the water is very common. Gross, but common. Hahaha
Sending you all heaps of hugs. Paula xxx

  2. Awwww she is super cute 🙂 🙂

  3. Too cute! Miss9 started swimming lessons at 3 months, miss7 started at 6 months. Water safety is crucial in Australia. Good on you for being proactive about this issue.

  4. She’s so adorable !

  5. I think I went for swim classes when I was 6. I remember my mother saying that the coach didn’t recommend classes until 6 because he worried that the schedule and formal training would tire younger children and make them scared of the water. So until then I used to play in the kiddie pool 🙂

  6. I dont know when I good swimming age is but we took Nathan first time to the pool when he was 5 months old. Now we have a swimming pool downstairs where we go once a week with him. He also tries to drink the water all the time though…
I learned in the same pool swimming and could swim okayish when I was around 4. After that I went to swimming class to learn the different techniques and sticked with the sport afterwards. I wonder how our son will fair with swimming 🙂

    • I am sure Nathan will be pro like his dad. I think Chhori is too young for formal training as she doesn’t understand much instructions but will live her to learn swim soon…

      • Right now she is still too young but it will come later on. I think before the age of 3 clubs dont even accept any here in Germany.
Nathan was yesterday first time in the pool again after 5 months break (there was a fire and the pool was just reopened now…). He was very excited but forgot also that he can move his arms and legs as he used to do. I guess it will just take some time again till he will do some swimming movements

  7. Oh wow!! Totally love little fountain on her head hehehhe.. She has grown up since last pic M.. Looking so cute😘

From where you bought that orange floater M??
