Chhori said :Passing on the Donut

So, lately, Chhori’s been tagging along on my Sunday walks which we usually go with one of my friends and her daughter. We start off together, but after about 45 minutes, we drop the kids off at home and continue on to finish our 10-kilometer run while the kids have breakfast.

Last week, when we got back, I asked Chhori what she had for breakfast at my friend’s place, and she said she had some bread and eggs. But then, she dropped a surprise – my friend’s daughter had offered her a donut, and she turned it down!

I was stunned and had to ask why, because, let me tell you, this girl loves her donuts. Her response? “Well, didn’t you tell me to eat less junk food? So, I figured it was too early to indulge on the doughnuts.”
I couldn’t believe my ears! I’ve been preaching the gospel of healthy eating and cutting down on junk food to both my kids, but I never realised it was sinking in this well.

I’m beyond proud of Chhori’s decision, and I hope this sets the tone for her making healthy choices for the rest of her life. Proud mum moment, indeed!

The Famous Bali Swings

When we decided to jet off to Bali, the Bali Swing was at the top of my must-try list! And boy, it did not disappoint. Here’s the lowdown on this epic adventure:

Types of Swings: Bali swings come in all shapes and sizes! From traditional swings to single, tandem, and even extreme swings that soar high above canyons and gorges. There’s something for every thrill-seeker’s preference and comfort level.

Best Locations: You can find these incredible swings all over Bali, but the hotspots are definitely in Ubud, Tegalalang, and the surrounding areas. Many resorts and adventure parks include swings as part of their attractions, making it easy to add this experience to your itinerary.

Our Swing Adventure: Our tour guide took us to a fantastic spot where we paid 25k IDR for the swing and a dress rental. Yes, you heard right – you can choose a dress! I went with a vibrant red one, my favourite colour, and it looked amazing in the photos. We had a short wait for our turn, which just built up the excitement. When it was finally our turn, they gave us a push, and off we went, soaring through the air. It was exhilarating! And the photo ops? Simply out of this world. AS snapped tons of pictures, and the kind lady from the venue took even more. I absolutely loved all the photos from that day – definitely Instagram-worthy!

Photography Tips: If you’re into photography, Bali swings are a dream come true. Many operators offer professional photography services for an additional fee, so you can capture every moment perfectly. Just make sure your camera or smartphone is secure before you start swinging. And don’t forget to check out the nests in the area – they make for some fantastic shots too!

Have you been to Bali and tried the swings? I’d love to hear about your experience! Share your stories and let’s relive the adventure together!

Chhori said : When Your Workout Turns Deadly… Kind Of

So, picture this: I’ve been hitting the gym pretty hard this week, you know, trying to stay fit and all that jazz. But today, when I finally plopped down on my sofa after a particularly intense HIIT session, I realised something… my legs were not happy campers.

I attempted to get up, but it felt like my legs were staging a rebellion against me. So, naturally, I blurted out, “My legs are killing me!”

And guess who decides to chime in, none other than my wise little Chhori. She looks at me with this innocent expression and goes, “How can your legs be killing you? It’s not like they have a knife!”

Seriously, folks, I was speechless. 😂 Anyway, just another day in the life of a fitness enthusiast trying to navigate the hazards of post-workout soreness!

Chhora turns 5 !!!

And just like that, my beautiful boy turns 5 today.

I can’t believe how fast time has flown by. It feels like just yesterday you were a tiny bundle in my arms, and now you’re a big boy with a heart full of love and a spirit full of adventure. I love you so much, and I am so grateful that you came into our lives to complete our family.

Dear Chhora,

Thank you for choosing me to be your mum. From the moment I first held you, I saw so much in your eyes that it brought tears to mine.

I love it when you say “I love you” 100 times a day. Each time, it melts my heart anew. I love it when you shower me with kisses; every one of them is precious to me.

As you grow older, I see your personality shining through—gentle, fun-loving, and outgoing. I adore every bit of who you are becoming, and I am so proud to be a part of your life.

Your curiosity and zest for life are truly inspiring. Whether you’re building blocks, drawing your favourite characters, or simply running around the garden with boundless energy, you bring so much joy and laughter into our home. Watching you discover the world has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

I love how you always try to make everyone around you smile, whether it’s with a funny joke or a kind gesture. Your heart is as big as your smile, and you have a way of making even the simplest moments special.

I am amazed by how much you’ve grown in these five years, not just in height but in wisdom and kindness. You have a bright future ahead of you, and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things you will achieve.

Please stay the wonderful, loving boy you are. Keep dreaming big and never lose your sense of wonder. Remember that you are loved more than words can express, and we will always be here to support you, cheer you on, and love you unconditionally.

We love you so much and always will.

With all my love,

Mum

Exercise as a Lifelong Journey

Move your body! It’s the mantra I’ve lived by since childhood, thanks to my dad’s dedication to fitness. Growing up watching him hit the gym daily instilled in me the importance of staying active. Even my brother jumped on the fitness train early, sporting a ripped physique by the age of 18! Inspired by my family’s example, I started my own exercise routine at the age of 10, beginning with morning skipping sessions that continued for years.

Fast forward to today, and exercise is still a vital part of my life. From hitting the gym to swimming during the summer months, I’ve explored various forms of physical activity. But as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to realise that health isn’t just about being skinny; it’s about building muscle, eating well, and prioritising longevity.

My current routine includes three HIIT workouts per week, long runs or walks on weekends, and daily 5km walks. And this June, I’ve challenged myself to exercise every single day, documenting my journey on my TikTok account. Despite the occasional struggle to roll out of bed in the morning, the sense of accomplishment after completing a workout is unparalleled. I’m addicted to that feeling!

Chhori has recently joined my fitness journey, and I couldn’t be more proud! She’s been hitting the treadmill for 30 minutes or more every day, showcasing an incredible level of dedication and commitment at such a young age. Witnessing her enthusiasm for staying active fills me with immense pride, and I hope this becomes a regular part of her lifestyle as she grows older. It’s moments like these that remind me of the importance of setting a positive example within the family.

So, how do you keep yourself active? What motivates you to stay on track with your fitness goals? Let’s inspire each other to keep moving and embrace the joy of exercise!
