Since I’m not in Nepal, I always find myself looking for little ways to stay connected to our festivals, culture and traditions. Shravan is one of those special times that brings back so many beautiful memories.
Shravan is a sacred month in the Hindu calendar, traditionally associated with devotion, blessings and Lord Shiva. For many Nepali women, it is also a time to celebrate together through the beautiful traditions of wearing green, applying mehendi, dressing up, singing, dancing and enjoying time with friends and family.
This year, we brought a little piece of Nepal to Australia. 💚
A lovely ladies’ get-together filled with green outfits, beautiful mehendi, lots of laughter, music, dancing and, of course, a wonderful potluck with everyone bringing something to share. 🥰🌿
There’s something so special about celebrating our culture away from home. It reminds us that traditions aren’t only about where we live ,they’re about the people we share them with and the memories we create together.
Feeling grateful for these beautiful women, our friendship, and the chance to keep our culture and traditions alive, even miles away from Nepal. 💚
