Happy New Year 2019

Hello everyone,

First of all, a very Happy New Year 2019.

Hope all of you had a great holiday and are looking forward to an amazing 2019.

Thank you everyone who sent me emails, dm on Twitter and Instagram. I really appreciate all the love you have been sending my way.

I know I have been MIA for a while but life has been so busy that it is hard to sit down and write but I have decided to make at more effort this year.

So much has happened in the last few months so I thought I will give you a quick update.

In August, we bought a new place and moved in and that is one of the biggest reason why I am so busy. Before moving we were busy packing and I couldn’t have imagined how much stuff we had accumulated. It took us more than two weeks to pack, a whole day to move and I am still unpacking boxes and fixing stuff in our new house.

One of the reason we decided to move was to get a place with a backyard. Now that Chhori is growing up, we realised that she needs more space to be active so our unit was feeling too small.

After moving, Chhori has been really happy enjoying the stairs and the backyard.

In September, we celebrated Teej with friends and family.

We also celebrated father’s day which was great. Chhori helped me bake and we surprised AS with breakfast in bed.

We also celebrated Nepali Father’s Day.

October was super busy with Dashain as we had so many things to do and so many people to visit but I am not complaining as we are able to celebrate this big festival even though we are not in Nepal.

Then on 28 October, we celebrated my birthday with visit to a circus and an amazing lunch. AS organized the surprise for us and Chhori and I had a great time.

In November, we did Ghar Puja for our new place as we had for the previous one.

It was followed by Tihar. We had great time as Chhori is old enough to understand and she enjoyed each ceremony.

She loved her gift from her brother for Bhai Tika.

December was busy at both work and home. We celebrated Christmas with friends and family and it was AS birthday on 28. We celebrated the traditional way with sagun and of course cake 🙂 .

At the end of the month, we went to Melbourne for our holiday. I will write more about it in my next post. Till then please keep reading my blog and sending me your love and support.

Take care.

Second winner 🥈 🥈

When we moved home, I have moved Chhori’s childcare as well.

One of the things she has learned in this new center is second winner. I am still not sure I agree or not but it seems to help Chhori understand second is ok sometimes.

Me: “Hurry up and finish brushing the teeth otherwise papa will be first and you will be last.”

Chhori: “NO mama, I will be first winner and Papa will be second winner. It is ok to be second winner sometimes.

AS seems to think that it is good to learn things like this so they accept not being first but I think I want her to understand the different between first and last, not everyone can and need to be a winner.

Do share your thought about it.

Rainbow colour🌈🌈🌈

Chhori is 3.5 years old now and she is getting so smart day by day. The other day, AS wanted her to wear a twinkle toes shoes which was purple in colour but lights up in different colours.

So the father daughter had the following conversation

Chhori : “Papa I want a rainbow shoes please.”

AS: “Put on these shoes (pointing to the purple shoe), it has rainbow lights, red, blue, pink, white and black.

Chhori: “No papa, that’s is not a rainbow” and started singing the song.

Red and yellow and pink and green, Purple and orange and blue

I can sing a rainbow, Sing a rainbow, Sing a rainbow too

That is rainbow papa, not white and black and other colours.”

AS: “Ohoo Sorry, I meant colourful shoes.”

Now who can argue with her as she is telling the facts?

I love to eavesdrop into father daughter conversation, it always manages to make me smile.

Take care everyone,

Ask google :)

I am sure, I can write a book full of conversation we have with Chhori these days. She is very observant and a quick thinker that it is easy to forget that she is only 3.5 years old.

One thing we seems to lose a lot in our household is the TV remote. I am constantly looking for it.

Me: “AS, have you seen the TV remote.

AS: “Check on the table, I saw it there last.

Me: “No, I looked everywhere, can’t see it.”

I saw Chhori walking to the room so,

Me: “Chhori, have you seen the TV remote.”

Chhori; “No mama but you can ask Google.

Me and AS started laughing because we never have thought that would be the answer 🙂.

The kids these days have no idea what life was like without technology. I constantly find her talking to Google Home asking to play song, turn on/off the light or turn on/off the TV. She thinks every screen on phone and laptop is touch screen and Google has been a part of our everyday life as we use it so often. No wonder she thinks I can ask Google to find the remote too 🙂.

Please do share your own experience.

Getting organised in our new home

As we set up our new home, I want to get really organized.

So I have goals for each room and each cupboard.

So far I have done our pantry and linen cupboard.

In the pantry, I am using lots of baskets and lazy Susan and storage containers to have easy access to everything. All the containers are see-through and all baskets are labeled so AS and I know where everything goes.

It is so true that if you have room and place for everything, then the pantry will never be messy and that is what I want to achieve.

With spices, as 12 jars are not enough, I made my own spice rack with 3 tier fruit basket with a lazy susan under it. I used small clear glass jars with labels to know exactly what each jar contains. I am so happy about this particular trick and I got inspired from the Facebook group called Mums who organise. I am also using lazy susans to store all sauces and spreads so they are easily accessible.

With the linen cupboard, I am separating items by size so I have a basket for queen sheets and single sheets and hand towel and bath towel and cot sheets. This way I know which basket to go for when I am looking for something.

So far I am happy to have achieved what I have planned. Next will be the kitchen storage cupboard and all our bathroom.

I will keep you posted.

Please share your tips and tricks to organise the house. I would really appreciate it.
