Another Year Wiser | Birthday Reflections on October 28

October 28 marks another year around the sun for me, and I started the day with a little announcement: It’s my birthday! 🎉 After all, I truly believe that you have to celebrate yourself. Life moves fast, and birthdays are the perfect excuse to slow down, appreciate how far we’ve come, and give ourselves a bit of extra love.

Funny enough, as I get older, age doesn’t feel like I imagined it would. It’s as if time has just stopped at certain points. Maybe I’m getting wiser, but I don’t “feel” my age at all—maybe that’s the beauty of growing in ways that can’t be measured by a number.

This year, I feel more grounded, grateful, and excited about all the simple moments that make up each day. Birthdays remind me to take a breath and reflect on all the highs and lows, the memories made, and the growth along the way. To capture it all, I put together a mini-vlog of the day: from a peaceful morning coffee to a birthday meal with all my favorite treats, and of course, laughter and smiles with loved ones who made it extra special.

Thank you all for the warm birthday wishes, messages, and love! You all made this day even brighter, and I’m so lucky to have such a beautiful community around me. Here’s to celebrating ourselves, cherishing the journey, and making memories that’ll make us smile for years to come.

Cheers to another year of growth, adventure, and gratitude!

Chhora’s 5th birthday celebration

We celebrated Chhora’s birthday with a few friends and family over the weekend. He was super excited because he got the Power Ranger decorations he had wished for. Kids are so easy to please, and the smile and excitement on his face made everything we did worth it.

The day started early, with us running around to prepare for the party. We had nuggets, fruits, chips, and fairy bread for the kids, and biryani with raita, salad, cheese and crackers, chips, and dips for the adults.

The house was filled with the delicious aroma of food and the vibrant colors of Power Ranger decorations.
Chhora loved all the attention and had an amazing time with his friends. We played fun games like charades, running with balloons, and had a piñata. The laughter and joy that filled the air were contagious.

The highlight of the day was cutting the homemade Power Ranger cake. Chhora’s eyes lit up as he saw the cake, and his excitement was absolutely heartwarming. Watching him blow out the candles while everyone sang “Happy Birthday” was a precious moment.

Seeing Chhora so happy and enjoying every minute of his special day made all the effort and planning worthwhile. It was a fantastic day filled with laughter, joy, and wonderful memories.

Do you celebrate your kids’ birthdays with a theme? If so, what themes have you tried?

Chhori turns 4 !!!

Another year has gone by so quickly and our dear Chhori is turning 4 today.

Dear Chhori,

The day you were born was the greatest moment of our life. We never knew we could love something so tiny so much, but the day you came into our life we were overwhelmed by all the love we had for you.

Watching you grow up has been such a joy, and we know that only greatness lies ahead for you. May your birthday be just as spectacular as you are.

Happy 4th birthday sweetheart!

Love mama and papa

Happy New Year 2019

Hello everyone,

First of all, a very Happy New Year 2019.

Hope all of you had a great holiday and are looking forward to an amazing 2019.

Thank you everyone who sent me emails, dm on Twitter and Instagram. I really appreciate all the love you have been sending my way.

I know I have been MIA for a while but life has been so busy that it is hard to sit down and write but I have decided to make at more effort this year.

So much has happened in the last few months so I thought I will give you a quick update.

In August, we bought a new place and moved in and that is one of the biggest reason why I am so busy. Before moving we were busy packing and I couldn’t have imagined how much stuff we had accumulated. It took us more than two weeks to pack, a whole day to move and I am still unpacking boxes and fixing stuff in our new house.

One of the reason we decided to move was to get a place with a backyard. Now that Chhori is growing up, we realised that she needs more space to be active so our unit was feeling too small.

After moving, Chhori has been really happy enjoying the stairs and the backyard.

In September, we celebrated Teej with friends and family.

We also celebrated father’s day which was great. Chhori helped me bake and we surprised AS with breakfast in bed.

We also celebrated Nepali Father’s Day.

October was super busy with Dashain as we had so many things to do and so many people to visit but I am not complaining as we are able to celebrate this big festival even though we are not in Nepal.

Then on 28 October, we celebrated my birthday with visit to a circus and an amazing lunch. AS organized the surprise for us and Chhori and I had a great time.

In November, we did Ghar Puja for our new place as we had for the previous one.

It was followed by Tihar. We had great time as Chhori is old enough to understand and she enjoyed each ceremony.

She loved her gift from her brother for Bhai Tika.

December was busy at both work and home. We celebrated Christmas with friends and family and it was AS birthday on 28. We celebrated the traditional way with sagun and of course cake 🙂 .

At the end of the month, we went to Melbourne for our holiday. I will write more about it in my next post. Till then please keep reading my blog and sending me your love and support.

Take care.
