Midair post

Right now I am 35,998 feet above the ground and flying at 571 mph towards Dubai from Sydney. The flight is 14 hours nonstop and there is still 6 hours and 30 minutes to reach Dubai.

When I am work, eight hours seems so long sometimes but sitting in one place for 14 hours is proving to be a challenge for me right now. In the last seven and a half hours, I have watched 2 movies had 2 meals and wrote 2 articles but time still seems to crawl. I know I am going on a holiday but the air time seems to make me a bit tired.

One of the reasons why I feel so tired is because I boarded the flight at 6am which means we needed to be at the airport at 4 am and consequently we woke up at 3 am. I always tend to forget that when i book an early morning flight, like 6 am, i need to wake up really really early. We slept a bit late last night as well so I had only 5 hours of sleep.

Our baggage check and boarding went smoothly and after the night of packing, I have only 20 kilos in my luggage :), Emirates allows 30kg for this trip but our tour allows only 23 kgs. I think I deserve a pat in the back either way :). I just hope I won’t regret taking out most of my summer dresses.

We are going to land in Dubai at 2pm local time. We have arranged an airport transfer so I hope to be in the hotel by 3 pm. Then one of my friends is going to pick us up for some sightseeing and shopping. I really need to make sure that I have the energy for all that as he has made a special effort to organize all this for us. Then at 10 pm tonight I am going to be on top of the world, I am serious. We have booked a trip to the top of Burj Kalifa, the tallest building in the world. I am waiting to be mesmerized by the view.

I have a million things in my mind right now about Dubai. I recently watched mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and almost half the movie was shot in Dubai.

Dubai, as you all may know is an amazing city and I am looking forward to being amazed by her. From the tallest building in the world, Burj KhalifaΒ to the only 7 start hotel, from manmade islands like the Palm and the Map of the World to indoor ski resorts to Ferrari World. I want to see the musical fountains and to go on a dessert safari. It seems like there is so much to do there and we have such limited time.

Ohoo and how can I forget the amazing shopping experience I am going to have.

I will report some more as I experience it and as I can. Wish me luck and hope the trip will go as planned without any mishap.

This post was written on the way to Dubai and published after 2 days.

  1. Yeah thats my plan. Not too many so far, 2 not counting Nepal and the transits πŸ™‚ But I think 25 is quite realistic. BTW I have traveled to quite a number of states in US. Things are not looking that bad either.

    • oopsie didn’t meant to offend you. Sorry if you are. I just ask as a info only πŸ™‚
US is such a big country that even if you travel your whole life, you will still have more places to go . I am sure you enjoy ur travel there. I want to come back to US and do more states as last time I had only 3 weeks to see the country.

      Happy travelling πŸ˜€

      • Hey why would i get offended, i’m not. why would you think so? ya I know 2 is not number to brag about but you know…i have time…and more than that i like travelling…lot has to do with visa, immigration status etc as well…so I am happy. Now you really make me feel like i should travel to few more countries very soon :p

        • 2 is not a lot but it is a start and I am sure you will let me know when you do more.I will be really happy if I can make you feel that you should travel more πŸ™‚ πŸ˜›

  2. I’d hate it if my wife was blogging all the time when we are on vacation. :p however, nothing to take away from your exotic vacation. The way you go on vacation every 3, 4 months, you are living my dream life. Have fun.

    • Hahaha I wasn’t planning to blog all the time during the holiday but only when I could but anyway we were so busy, I hardly had any spare time on this holiday πŸ™‚ But I will remember for next holiday not to blog at all :p

This world is such a wonderful place that the more you see, the more you crave for. My dream is to see at least 100 countries before I die which is a lot I know but I can dream anyway. It may come true if I am lucky πŸ™‚

      • 100? wow! But a in this pace, I think you will make it. I would die happy if I make can make it to 25. BTW, I was just teasing you don’t stop blogging on your vacation, we all love to read them. Share the fun πŸ™‚

        • I know 100 is a lot but a girl can always dream. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
I am sure you can make 25 sooner than you think. All you need to do is start. If you don’t mind me asking, how many you have been to so far?
