A Fun Day at Hahndorf Farm Barn

🐄🐑🐰🦚 A day of cuddles, feeding, learning and lots of animal fun at Hahndorf Farm Barn!

While exploring Hahndorf, we decided to spend some time at Hahndorf Farm Barn and it turned out to be such a fun experience for the whole family. If your kids love animals, this is definitely the kind of place where they can get right in there rather than just looking at animals from a distance.

The kids were so excited from the moment we arrived. There are more than 16 different species of farm animals, native wildlife and other animals at the farm, and what I really loved was how hands-on the experience was. The children could safely get close, touch, feed and interact with many of the animals.

One of the highlights was the farm show. 🐄 The talk was not only entertaining but also really educational. We learnt more about farm life, the animals and where some of our everyday food comes from. The kids were listening, asking questions and, of course, getting very excited whenever an animal came out!

They even got the opportunity to get up close with the animals and have a hands-on experience rather than simply watching from the sidelines.

The cows were a big hit! 🐄 We learnt about dairy cows and even got to see how milking works. The farm has different breeds of cows and visitors can have the opportunity to milk Daisy and bottle-feed calves.

Then came the sheep and lambs. 🐑 There is something about seeing little lambs up close that makes everyone smile. The kids loved getting close to them and learning about them, and bottle-feeding the baby animals was definitely one of those experiences they won’t forget.

And then there were the rabbits! 🐰❤️

The kids absolutely loved being able to gently hold and cuddle the rabbits. They were so soft and cute that it was hard to convince them it was time to move on! 😂 There were also guinea pigs and baby chicks, which gave the kids even more opportunities to interact with small animals.

We also spotted peacocks wandering around the farm. 🦚 They were such a beautiful sight, especially when you see those gorgeous feathers up close. The peacocks roam around the farm, so you never quite know what animal you’re going to come across next!

There were plenty of other animals too — goats, ponies, donkeys, deer, kangaroos, emus, ducks, chickens and more. The farm also has reptiles and runs educational reptile experiences, so there was always something new for the kids to discover.

What I really loved was watching the kids become more confident as they went along. At first, some animals were approached very carefully, but after a little while they were happily feeding and patting them like little farm experts! 😄

There was also plenty of space for the kids to run around and play, so it wasn’t just about the animals. It felt like a proper family day out where they could learn, explore, get some fresh air and have fun at the same time.

And I think that’s what made the experience so special for me. I love taking the kids to places where they can learn without realising they’re learning. Seeing a cow in a book is one thing, but standing next to one, learning how it is milked and actually having that hands-on experience makes the lesson much more memorable.

By the end of our visit, we had fed animals, cuddled rabbits, watched the farm show, met cows, sheep, goats and so many other animals, taken far too many photos and heard plenty of excited “Mum, look at this!” throughout the day. 😂❤️

It was such a lovely change from our usual city activities and another great memory from our South Australia adventure.

Hahndorf gave us beautiful heritage streets, delicious food and history, but the Farm Barn gave the kids a completely different kind of adventure — one filled with animals, muddy little moments, big smiles and lots of curiosity. 🐄🐑🐰🦚

Definitely one of those family experiences where the kids came away happy, a little more knowledgeable and already asking what animal they could see next! ❤️

Australian Space Discovery Centre! 🚀✨

🚀✨ A little space adventure in Adelaide!

One of the places we really enjoyed visiting during our Adelaide holiday was the Australian Space Discovery Centre. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect before we went, but it turned out to be such an interesting and memorable experience for all of us.

There was so much to discover about space, satellites, astronauts, rockets and the role Australia plays in the growing space industry. The kids loved walking around, looking at the displays and learning about things they usually only see in books or on TV. Of course, they had plenty of questions along the way! 😄

One of my favourite parts was getting to hear a talk from someone who actually works in the space industry. Hearing about their work, experiences and what happens behind the scenes made the visit feel much more personal. It was one thing to read about space exploration, but listening to someone who is actually involved in the industry made it feel real and brought everything to life.

I also loved seeing how much the kids enjoyed the experience. They were curious, engaged and excited to learn more, and I always love taking them to places where they can explore something completely different from their everyday world.

It was one of those outings where we walked in simply wanting to have a look around and walked out having learned so much more. 🌏🚀

Definitely one of the memorable stops from our Adelaide trip — a fun day of exploring, learning and dreaming a little bigger! ❤️

🤖Exploring the Future at MOD Adelaide with the Kids❤️

One of the highlights of our Adelaide trip was visiting MOD., and honestly, it turned out to be one of those rare places where both the kids and the adults were completely engaged from start to finish.

Walking in with two curious kids, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I thought we’d spend an hour or two looking around, but before we knew it, we had spent most of the day exploring, learning, laughing and having some really interesting conversations about technology, science and the future.

🚀 The Kids Were Obsessed with the AI Exhibits

The moment we reached the AI section, both kids were hooked.

They absolutely loved interacting with the AI displays and talking to the AI-powered exhibits. Watching their faces light up as they asked questions and received responses was priceless. What amazed me most was seeing how naturally children interact with technology. They weren’t intimidated at all. They simply treated the AI like a new friend and started chatting away.

There were so many moments where they would turn to each other and say:

“How does it know that?”

“Can it really talk?”

“Let’s ask it another question!”

Their curiosity was infectious, and as a parent, I loved seeing them learn through play rather than being glued to a screen.

🌏 My Favourite Space: The Earth Room

While the kids were busy exploring the interactive displays, my personal favourite was the Earth Room.

There was something incredibly powerful about standing in a space that visualised our planet and encouraged us to think about how connected everything is. It was immersive, thought-provoking and beautifully designed.

It reminded me that technology isn’t just about gadgets and software. It can help us better understand our world, tackle environmental challenges and make smarter decisions for the future.

I could have easily spent another hour just wandering through that room and taking it all in.

🎤 Talking with AI Felt Like Science Fiction

Another highlight for me was interacting with the AI exhibits.

As someone who works in IT and spends a lot of time thinking about digital transformation, business systems and emerging technologies, I found it fascinating to see AI explained in such an engaging and accessible way.

We hear about Artificial Intelligence everywhere these days, but seeing people of all ages interacting with it in real life was something different altogether.

What I loved most was that the exhibits didn’t just focus on the technology itself. They encouraged visitors to think about:

✅ How AI can support people

✅ Where AI is already being used today

✅ The opportunities it creates

✅ The challenges and ethical questions it raises

As an IT professional, I found myself constantly thinking about real-world use cases and how rapidly AI is becoming part of our everyday lives. Whether it’s healthcare, education, customer service, travel or local government, AI is no longer something futuristic. It’s already here.

And honestly, that’s both exciting and fascinating.

❤️ A Perfect Family Day Out

What made MOD. special wasn’t just the technology.

It was the fact that we experienced it together as a family.

The kids explored, asked questions and shared their favourite exhibits. My husband and I found ourselves having deeper conversations about technology, the future and what the world might look like when our children are adults.

Those are the moments I treasure most.

A place that can entertain children, spark curiosity, inspire learning and still keep adults completely engaged is something truly special.

If you’re visiting Adelaide with kids, I highly recommend adding MOD. to your itinerary. It’s educational without feeling like a classroom, interactive without being overwhelming, and one of the most enjoyable family experiences we’ve had together.

We left feeling inspired, curious and excited about the future.

And judging by the endless questions from the kids on the way home, I’d say they loved it just as much as I did. ❤️
