Chhori is at this stage now that she doesn’t like to be called “Baby”. She is always going to be my baby but at 3 she thinks she is a big girl and gets annoyed if anyone calls her “Baby”.
Recently she moved from 2-3 years room to 3-4 years room in her childcare so she calls all her friends in 2-3 years room babies.
We know about it so we try not to call her a baby in front of her. But sometimes, AS and I will have a conversation and suddenly we hear Chhori saying, “I am not a baby, I am big strong girl.”
Then we realised that we had called her a baby in our conversation unconsciously and she has picked up on it.
She also got upset with my SIL when she called her my “baby doll” and with my nephew when he said, “You are a baby so you can’t play this game.”
I hope this is just a phase and she will outgrow it otherwise we will be hearing “I am not a baby, I am big strong girl.” for a while.
Please do share your experience and please tell me this is normal phase of child growing up.
Take care.
