Star Obsession

I was recently going through a newspaper article and came across an article which talked about how celebrities are spending millions of dollars in security to protect themselves from crazy fans. I thought millions to protect from who? I did some googling and I was surprised to find a lot about crazy fans.

I have never understood the craze for celebrities. For last few days my Facebook wall has been full of my crazy friends who are fans of Twilight and are so excited to see the midnight screening of the movie that they keep on reposting the same thing again and again. I also have a friend who is so crazy about Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan that if anyone says anything bad about him she will fight with that person.

A While ago Miley Cyrus was here and there was this crazy fan who climbed on the stage scaring the star.

Every time there is a ticket sell of some band, I see people queuing for hours and hours to get the ticket. Don’t they have work to go to?

Another craze I have seen recently is for teenage singer Justin Bieber. Girls as young as 2 were in the crowd chanting his name holding cut outs that said “Marry Me”. Poor girls were so disappointed when, due to security reason, Justin couldn’t appear.

May be I don’t have that gene you need to be crazy about something. If I really think about it, I had never been so crazy for something that I skipped sleeping or queued for hours to get a glimpse of someone. Growing up I loved Backstreet boys and Bryan Adams and I would love to see them in concert but I will never be one of those fans who give everything to be close to their idols.

I like lots of actors, musicians, athletes but that doesn’t mean I will follow their every move.  On Google I came across the buzzard behaviour of fans of Bollywood actors. Here is the video of a fan worshiping Bollywood actor Amitab Bachhan.

Come on, seriously? Worshipping another human being and putting up his statue; I seriously think there is a limit on how much you can go crazy for another human being.

And there is this guy in India whose whole house if full of picture of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. He even named his kids after the star’s son and one of the characters from his movie.

I think there are healthy obsessions where you follow celebrities and their life for entertainment but to go to the extend you worship the person and fill every corner of your house with his photos is simply crazy.

Another example of crazy fan is those who go under the knife to look like their idol. Look at the photos below. Lady in UK spent $ 16,000 to look like Michael Jackson. There are many more examples if you search the internet.

Also there is Octo mum in US who wanted to look like Angelina Jolie and spent all her money.

What is with the woman who had surgery to look like real life Barbie?

I don’t know how people forget that celebrities are people as well, doing their job in the spot light. They have their personal life and families just as we do and I am sure they will love to be left alone for a change so they can let their hair down and relax after a hard days work.

What the hell wrong with the drivers on road?

When I started this blog I though I will never rant on it, I will just share my experience from my life but I will not be a normal woman if I don’t rant so here it is.

What the hell wrong with the drivers on road?

I have driven in Australia, Nepal and New Zealand only so I won’t know about the rest of the world. But seriously I have seen one after another crazy driver on the road for the past few weeks.

I never understood why people have to talk on the phone while driving. Don’t you know it is illegal? And I am seeing this increasing number of people wearing a head phone while driving. Aren’t you supposed to be aware of your environment while you drive, so how the hell can you hear an ambulance when you have headphone on both yours ears.

And what’s with the people who try so hard to get into your lane. You think it is ok to let them go so you slow down or stop but they don’t even have the courtesy to wave a Thank You. They drive like they deserve that pass. Hello! I was just being nice and if I knew you would not even acknowledge my kindness then I would have never let you in.

And there are other kinds of drivers who feel that they need to race me. Even if they break the speed limit to overtake me. Anyway most of the time I catch up with them at next traffic light so what is the use of risking getting fined just to overtake and beat me by a few seconds.

And don’t even get me started on the bike and cycle riders. Motorbike riders always think they have to be at the front of the line when there is a red light so they will try to squeeze into any small space they can find to be in the front.

I know bicycle is environment friendly but I don’t live 2km away so I can ride to work. I need to drive so don’t give me that attitude. The worst part of a bicycle rider is, in peak hours they will take up the whole left lane and all the cars have to change lanes to pass him. Then when there is a red light, they will just jump on to the footpath and cross the light with the pedestrians and then again go back to riding on the road. I don’t know why there is no stricter rule against this. Seriously, if cyclists need to use the road, they must follow the entire road rule as any other motorist. And if they can ride on the footpath then they shouldn’t be riding on the road.

And in the morning traffic, you get to see all kinds of drivers. There was a woman painting her toe nails on a red light while a man in the next car was shaving with an electric shaver. Seriously are we so busy that we don’t have time to do all this at home. Then there was this woman who was applying make up. At one light, one eye liner and at next light another eye liner, then lipstick and powder and a few more that I had no idea what she was applying.

I am sure they understand that doing other things while you drive will distract you and can cause accidents. But they still think they can multi task and because of their stupidity other people will be affected as well.

If you are a good driver it doesn’t mean that some bad driver won’t come and hit you from the back, front, left or right. So to avoid accidents everyone on the road must be a good driver.

I don’t understand what is the rush with everyone on the road. How can people be so impatient that they are willing risk their lives to avoid being late. Look at this video and see for yourself if it is really worth getting distracted while driving.

Drive safe everyone and thanks for reading my ranting.

Aerobic kick boxing

We recently joined Aerobic kick boxing classes.

Aerobic Kickboxing is a non-contact kickboxing combined with the energy and vigour of an aerobic class format.

Its is spring now and summer will be here in no time. So in order to get our body fit for our Christmas holiday, we decided that it would be a good idea to join some fitmess class so we would exercise regularly. It was really hard to exercise during winter as it was so cold and most of the days, by the time we returned home from work, it was dark outside.

I really find it funny that both me and AS are very disciplined and go to class regularly when we pay for some classes. Before this we have also gone for Thai kick boxing classes and it was great.

After the first class, both our bodies ached for days but we still loved it. We have a gym and a pool in our building but we didn’t use that in winter.

When it is summer, we are much better as both of us love to swim.

Anyway, when we decided to join Aerobic kick boxing, we thought it will be somewhat similar to Thai kick boxing we went to earlier but it is not at all similar. Thai kick boxing is mostly working with a partner with gloves on. They will show you how to punch, kick and guard. But aerobic kick boxing have no contact at all. We normally dance on Adel and Rihanna’s songs.

I am sure if AS had known of this before we joined, he would not have gone with me for the class but now he is loving it.

The class is conducted in a basketball court of a local school. The class normally has 15-20 people, mostly gals but there are a few men and kids too. Our instructor is really good. I think she is in her 50’s, but super fit. There are so many combinations of techniques she uses sometimes I feel lost. The funniest part is I always mess up my right from left :).

Normally we do warm up for first 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes of sit ups. I thought I was in good shape but she proved me wrong. Then work out will have punches, guards and fast drills which is definitely working out my body. And it is concluded by doing stretches. By the end of an hours class, I feel as if I have been working out for hours.

Hope to lose few inches before summer!!!
