Pyjama day @ childcare

Chhori’s childcare organises different events every week to keep the kids entertained. I like it as it gives us something to look forward to as well.

Lat week, they had Pyjama Day and we made sure Chhori was dress in her PJ and cute shoes.

When AS went to drop her off in the morning, he had to sign an agreement to say that we are OK for her to watch the movie “Moana”.

I had loved the movie when we watched it few months ago.

Anyway when I went to pick her up, there was a parcel next to her bag. The teacher informed us that she had won the best dressed award in her class. It is her first prize from the childcare and even though it is nothing big, we feel so proud. I guess all parents are like this 🙂

They gave her a parcel filled with balloons, lollies, bubbles and some small toys. I am sure Chhori didn’t understand the reason behind the parcel but was excited to see the lollies and toys.

On the other hand, my nephew didn’t understand why he didn’t get an award as well and was quite upset.

Kids can be so funny and cute.

Easy shortbread biscuits

I am always trying to find easy recipes so I can make it quickly and this is definitely one of them.

Ingredients

  • 150g plain flour
  • 100g butter
  • 50g icing sugar

Method

  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  • Chop butter into small cubes.

  • Put flour, butter and icing sugar together into a bowl and mash them with your fingers until they mix.

  • Now kneed the mixture to form a firm dough.
  • Roll out the dough onto the bench and put some plastic wrap over it.

  • Use a rolling pin to make it flat around 1 cm high

  • Use a cookie cutter and cut them into your favourite shapes.

  • Line a tray with baking paper and grease it lightly.
  • Put the cut cookies onto the baking tray. Make sure you leave enough room (at least 1 cm) between the cookies as they will expand.

  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Do not let the cookies go brown

  • Take the cookies out of the oven and rest for 2 hours.
  • Serve the cookies with tea or coffee or place them in an air tight container for later.

We are going to Hawaii

I am excited to let you guys know that we will be going to Hawaii soon. I booked the holiday almost 6 months ago now and with everything happening around me, almost forgot to plan what to do and where to go. Now we only have a few weeks to go and I am frantically googling things to do there which are toddler friendly.

On top of being a holiday, I am also excited to be meeting one of my best friends from school whom I haven’t seen for almost a decade now. She lives in the mainland USA but will be coming to Hawaii to see me and it is so exciting.

It will be a great reunion as so much has happened since we last met. The last time I went to the USA, she was living in New York and we had a great time together going to places and living a single girl’s life.

Now, both of us are married and have kids. I can’t believe we are in such a different stage of our life. We have so many memories together from school. We do talk frequently over the phone but seeing her will be a treat for sure.

It will be Chhori’s first time to the USA and AS will love this holiday as it will bring back a lot of memories for him, all the American food and shops.

I plan to relax and unwind and do loads of shopping 🙂

Anyway if you know Hawaii and have any recommendations for food, shopping or sightseeing which are toddler friendly, please do share that with me.

I will be very happy to share my experience once I get back.

My little princess

We went to IKEA the other day and both AS and I were busy looking at furniture. After a few minutes when we turned around ,we found Chhori was making herself comfortable in a chair and reading their catalogue. Look at the photo. We know for sure that she is a princess  🙂 . My cheeky monkey!

No phone please …

Sometimes we learn so much from kids. As an adult we sometimes forget that kids are so smart and learn so much from their environment.

I mostly feel that Chhori is very small and forget that she already knows so much. She surprised us when she stared to join our conversations. Whenever AS or I ask a question to each other, if she knows the answer, she will say it. Sometimes it has caught us off guard but we love it as it beings a smile to both of our faces.

Lately we are giving her a lot less screen time so she can play with her toys and be active more. It is working well except that sometimes she will say “TV please mama”.  I see her pretend play with her cars, teddies and dolls. It is so interesting and surprising at the same time as she repeats things that we say to her like ” No baby ” or ” Eat more please” etc.

Yesterday, both AS and I were on our phones updating our grocery list and Chhori was dancing to one of her rhymes and suddenly she came to us and said “No phone mama”. I didn’t quite get it at first but when she said it again, I did and put my phone down. Then she went to AS and said, “No phone papa.” He obliged and she instructed both of us to stand up and start dancing with her.

Both of us could not help but laugh as that is what we usually tell her and now she was reminding us of that.

I am loving being a parent to this smart little cutie pie.
