Chhori birthday celebration party

As I mentioned before in my post, we had Chhori’s birthday celebration in Nepali way and at her childcare. But we also decided to throw a small party for her. We thought it would be nice to celebrate her birthday among our friends and family.

Now she is at that stage that she understands the celebration and so she was looking forward to her Peppa themed birthday party. She would go around telling everyone who would listen, that she is turning 3 and she will have a Peppa themed birthday party.

We also decided to hire a professional photographer to capture the memories on that day and I am glad we did.

We did some family photo shoot before the party.

I had a table decorated with everything Peppa.

The table was full with lollies, juices, biscuits, cupcake and goodie bag. Chhori was super excited so see all the arrangements.

Around noon, guests started to arrive. When most of the guest was in, we served lunch.

It was followed by cake cutting, yes, a Peppa one.

To make the things fun, I had a few games planned for the kids and the parents as well.

We did the egg and spoon race, balloon race and bingo. We had so much fun as everyone laughed and enjoyed the day.

The day ended with bubbles all over the park. We had bought bubble wands and as the day was slightly windy, it was so easy to make a lot of bubble.

Overall we had a great celebration and Chhori was over the moon with all the attention, gifts and Peppa around.

She is a big 3 years old girl now.

Take care ,

You look like a banana 🍌 mama

While celebrating the Nepali new Year, I was dressed in traditional yellow kurta.

As I came out of my room I had this conversation with Chhori

Chhori : “You look like a banana 🍌 mama

Me: (not trying to laugh) “I am so hurt” (making a sad face)

Chhori: “I am sorry mama. I look like broccoli 🥦 (looking at her green kurta)

Me: (laughing) “I love broccoli 🥦

Chhori: “and I love banana 🍌 and I love you mama”

She definitely has become quite cheeky and witty. I love our conversations and I love her so much. I want her to remain like this forever.

Take care ,

Take your yogurt mama

I don’t how kids these are so smart and clever.

Chhori surprises us every day with her smart brain and the way she communicates with us.

We kind of have an order as to how we say good bye before I leave for work. First it is a hug 🤗 then a kiss 😘 and finally a hi-five 👋.Then the following dialogues occur.

Chhori: “Have a good day mama

Me: “Have a good day baby.

This happens every single day. But the other day chhori added, “ and don’t forget your yogurt Mama.”

I normally take yogurt for lunch and lucky for me that day, I actually had forgotten it. I don’t know how she knew but she has a good eye on what’s happening around her.

Love her to the moon and back.

Take care and happy Friday.

I am big strong girl

Chhori is at this stage now that she doesn’t like to be called “Baby”. She is always going to be my baby but at 3 she thinks she is a big girl and gets annoyed if anyone calls her “Baby”.

Recently she moved from 2-3 years room to 3-4 years room in her childcare so she calls all her friends in 2-3 years room babies.

We know about it so we try not to call her a baby in front of her. But sometimes, AS and I will have a conversation and suddenly we hear Chhori saying, “I am not a baby, I am big strong girl.

Then we realised that we had called her a baby in our conversation unconsciously and she has picked up on it.

She also got upset with my SIL when she called her my “baby doll” and with my nephew when he said, “You are a baby so you can’t play this game.”

I hope this is just a phase and she will outgrow it otherwise we will be hearing “I am not a baby, I am big strong girl.” for a while.

Please do share your experience and please tell me this is normal phase of child growing up.

Take care.

Things Chhori says

Before I had a baby, everyone told me how much faster life flies by when you have kids. And I believed them in the same way someone who has never experienced it does.

But now being a mother myself, I know exactly what they mean. Chhori is already 2.5 years old and it is hard to deny how time has flow by so quickly. Sure, sometimes I wish I could still hold her, swaddled in a blanket, like the day she came home for the very first time from the hospital. But those moments are fleeting.

The other day, she came and slept on my lap after a long time and it felt so good. She is still this tiny person but things that come out of her mouth surprise me all the time.

The other night I finished making the bed and she said, “Thank you for making my bed mama.” No one taught her that but it is so nice to hear that.

The other day I was in our driveway waiting for the automatic door to open so I took one of my hands off the wheel and she said, “Mama, please drive with both hands.”

I was reversing into the car spot so I unbuckled my seat belt so that I could see properly and Chhori told me, “Please don’t take off your seat belt mama.”

She wanted me to dance with her so she said, “Stand on the circle and do like this, (lift one foot off the ground) and clap like me.”

And there are times she comes and complains about her Papa or her cousins,

Mama, mama, B dada is not sharing toys with me.”

Mama, papa said No

Mama, papa not play with me.”

Mama, I want PJ masks toy, B dada is not sharing with me.”

“I am Owlette, papa is Catboy and mama , you are Gecko. We are PJ Masks family.”

The list keeps on growing but whatever the conversation is, I am really enjoying a lot. Don’t get me wrong, there are time when she irritates me by repeating the same thing again and again but most of the time I love her company and her unconditional love.

Take care,
