Tips on baby friendly holidays please

I am sure you all know by now that I love travelling and going to new places. The last time, we had a holiday was our babymoon to New Zealand.

So it has been more than a year since my feet touched a new place so it is definitely itching. But the big problem now is I have no clue about holidaying with a baby.

We definitely want to go spread our wings with Chhori but we are so new to this that we are a bit scared. I don’t know what kind of holiday I need to research. There are so many questions in my mind. Beach, mountains or something else? Is she too young? Should we wait? Will she be bored or annoyed if we fly? What do you do when you travel with a year-old baby?

While I was pregnant, I was thinking that we will do what suits us and the baby will adapt but looking at Chhori now I don’t want her to be uncomfortable in any way thus all these questions in my mind. She is the most important person in my life right now and I will never forgive myself if I put her through a difficult situation.

Anyone who has travelled with a small baby, please do share your tips. We definitely need a holiday but we are so clueless.

Hope to book something soon and slowly adapt to our new life as parents and travellers  🙂

Take care everyone,

Waiting for baby to wake up

Before we had Chhori, we had many friends and family who had babies and one thing I noticed was that whenever, we were going to meet somewhere and if the baby was sleeping, at home or in the car, the parents would wait for them to wake up before leaving home or getting out of the car.

Chhori (2)

I thought it was a bit crazy as sometime it made us late if we had some plans. As a couple without babies, we didn’t understand it at all. Mind you, not all of our friends and family were like that.

Then we were blessed with Chhori, our heart and soul and then we also became parents who would wait for their baby to wake up before doing anything :).

Chhori takes very short naps during the day, around 30 to 45 minutes. On our lucky days, it is an hour. I know every baby is different and I know babies who nap for 2-3 hours every day.

Anyway, as her naps are so short, we try not to wake her up if she is sleeping, either at home or in the car. We try to plan our life around her nap times. Sometimes, we find that we don’t have an option to wait and we realised that if we wake her up, she is a bit cranky while if she has her full nap, she is very happy so you can guess why we don’t mind waiting.

I am sure everyone has their own way of parenting and this is what I and AS are doing. How things change when you have a baby! 🙂

Does anyone have similar stories to share? I’d love to hear them 🙂

Take care everyone,

How much time do you spend with your kids?

My question is to every working parent: how much time do you spend with your kids?

After coming back to work for just a week, I have begun to realise that I will be spending a lot less time with my beautiful Chhori. It makes me really sad and I can completely understand why many mums choose to stay home or work part time after a baby.

Nwaran (20)

I know I am very lucky to have been able to spend a year with her at home and I did enjoy every moment of it. But now that am back at work, I only see her for around 30 minutes in the morning while I am getting ready for work and around 2 hours once I get back home before she goes to bed.

So every workday, I have around 2.5 hours with her which will include me cooking meals, cleaning afterwards and doing household chores as well. So weekends are going to be very precious now.

pasni (28)

I guess she has started to understand that I will be leaving her at home so in the mornings once she is awake all she wants is for me to hold her. So I brush my teeth, comb my hair and get dressed holding her. I want to feed her breakfast before I leave but it is not possible every day. If I leave late then I will get home late as well. I hate making these choices and I really think parents should not have to make choices like this in life.

I have a very supportive husband and he helps around a lot but I still feel really wretched that I have to compromise so much in life. I guess I will get used to the idea after a while but for now it hurts so much to be away from my little girl.

I don’t know how to improve and utilise my time better when I am with her so any suggestion is very welcome. How do you manage your time so you can spend more quality time with your little one? Are there any tips or tricks that I can use to make both of us happy? Every suggestion and advice will be much appreciated.

Take care everyone,

Valentine’s Day 2016

It was V day a few days ago; and I got around to doing the post a bit late.

Anyway hope all of you had a great day with your loved ones.

Valentine's day 2016 (4)

This year, it was Chhori’s first V day so we made it special for her by taking a few photos. I always want her to remember this day as a happy time shared with family. I also want her to know that we love her a lot and will be there for her no matter what.

Here are some photos from the day with Chhori. I hope these photos will tell her many stories in the years to come.

Also in the morning, AS made a very yummy breakfast. I have to give him A+ for his effort and the result. He made this nice round pancake with a red heart in the middle accompanied with mixed berry smoothies. It took him quite some time in the kitchen though 🙂

Valentine's Day 2016 (1)

Chhori was very excited and happy about everything. When we put her in front of the breakfast tray, she was so excited that we couldn’t stop her from trying to grab everything.

Valentine's Day 2016 (2)

This year for Valentine’s we became 3 from 2 and I love it so much. Hope one day in a few years, it will be 4 from 3 and we have a complete family 🙂

Take care everyone and hope to see you with another post very soon.

Back to work, back to reality

Today, after almost a year of maternity leave, I am back at work and it feels so sad. I know I am very lucky to have had the option to stay home and look after my daughter for so long but after spending almost every moment together for the last one year, I left home this morning with a heavy heart.

We are lucky to have my parents here to look after Chhori in my absence but it doesn’t make it any easier on my heart.

This morning when I was getting ready for work, Chhori saw me getting dressed and thought that we were going out together. She wanted me to hold her so I did and she even waved good bye to my mum. Poor baby thought she is going out with me.

Before coming to work, I asked her to kiss me and she happily obliged. Here is our happy snap from the morning.

first day at work

I know this is the normal course of life and I have little choice but I miss her so much. It will be a hard few days for both of us before we get used to the situation.
