Double Father’s Day Celebration

As we celebrate both Nepali Father’s Day and Australian Father’s Day, we had a great time with both the celebrations.

For the Australian one, Chhori and I baked a cake and surprised AS with breakfast in bed.

Chhori helped me with cooking and baking and was over the moon with her cupcake.

With Nepali Father’s day, I prepared Sagun and Chhori followed the ritual with AS.

I am so proud to say that she is such a good girl that we don’t have to worry at all. All I have to do is instruct and she will do the process and enjoy the whole thing too.

Hope all the fathers had a great time celebrating Father’s Day.

Happy Weekend everyone 🙂

Father’s Day, Celebrating both Nepali and Australian way

On Monday , 21st of August was Kushe Aushi (Nepali Father’s Day) and today is Australian Father’s day so we celebrated both the father’s day in very different way for AS.

I always want Chhori to understand Nepali culture and traditions so for Nepali father’s day, it is important for me to show her the traditional way. As it was weekdays, I went shopping after work and prepare for the celebration.

Chhori is 2 and half years old now so it is more fun this year than before as she can understand and take interest on what we are doing. As she is old enough, AS and I gave her direction and she followed them very well.

We had so much fun, her putting tika, sagun  and cutting cake.

Today , I made breakfast to AS with the help of Chhori and she said “Happy Father’s Day Papa”. It is so sweet to see them together. We made pancake , heart shaped eggs and some fruits.

Then she help her papa wash our cars. She was so excited to help.

Take care everyone.

Father’s Day celebration

It was Kushe Aushi (Nepali Father’s Day) on Thursday and Australian Father’s day on Sunday so we combined the celebrations for AS and my dad.

Father's Day (3)

This is AS’s second Father’s day so it is still very special like the first one.

Father's Day (2)

Also it is very special father’s day for me as my dad is here and I could actually celebrate the day with him.

Father's Day (4)

As it was a weekday, my mum helped me to prepare Sagun (traditionally a plate of boiled egg, smoked fish, a “bara”, fried chicken and yogurt). It is such a great help when your parents are near you, I am going to miss them so much when they leave.

Father's Day (5)

I baked a cake and muffins too. I picked a card as well along with some biscuits, cookies and fruits.

Father's Day (7)

I am so glad that we got to celebrate the day as a family.

Father's Day (8)

First we celebrated AS father’s day. We did a normal tika and sagun. Chhori was quite curious and happy to do the process.

Father's Day (9)

I don’t think she understands much yet but she loves it when there are lots of people around her and she is definitely daddy’s little girl.

Then I celebrated my father’s day with tika and sagun as well.

Father's Day (10) Father's Day (11) Father's Day (12)

It was followed by cake and gifts.

Father's Day (14)

Hope you guys have a great celebration too.

Father's Day (1)

Take care everyone.

Hamilton Zoo: New Zealand

I guess the way we spend time during a holiday has changed completely. I used to write about adventures and running around when we holidayed as a couple but as a family it was a more relaxed pace like spending a day at going to a zoo :).

We have been looking forward to this family getaway for a long time and we were all excited.

First thing at the zoo is a photo in front of the signage 🙂

hamilton zoo (2)

Hamilton Zoo is an average sized zoo, not very big to require days exploring but big enough (25 hectare) to spend with small kids walking, around and enjoying. The best part is that the animals are not caged like in most zoos so visiting Hamilton zoo feels like you are walking in a National park and animals are living in their nature habitat. All the animals are still at a safe distance in massive enclosures so they could roam freely.

We started our tour with the Rhino first as the lady in the counter told us there is a baby rhino on display who will be removed later.

I guess everything when they are baby are very cute, even the rhino. We enjoyed the two adult rhinos playing with each other while the baby rhino followed her mum around. We spent lots of time there and Chhori was excited to see a rhino after watching all the animal related rhymes.

It was really nice to see many animals so close as well. I have never seen a red panda or a giraffe so near me. When we visited Dubbo zoo, we had a pretty good encounter with giraffes but this was even better as we are on the same level and I could see how tall they really are. They are just spectacular and we spend lots of time admiring them.

The Sumatran tiger exhibit was also impressive so were the chimpanzee and cheetah.

There were many chimpanzees on display and there were some babies too. It was really cool to see them lay a picnic rug before they sat down. So many of their actions reminded me of human beings 🙂

We also saw lots of other creatures, including native New Zealand birds and reptiles.

The other thing I discovered that day is how patient and great teacher AS is to our daughter. The whole day, he was pointing at animals and birds and explaining to Chhori what they are and talking to her to keep her interested.

Also I saw how much my parents loved Chhori as they kept on playing with her making sure she was OK. It is so great to have them around.

hamilton zoo (1)

It took us around 3 hours to walk around the whole zoo. Chhori napped for an hour or so during the visit so she was full of energy when she was awake, running around everywhere and enjoying the day.

hamilton zoo (23)

We all were hungry at the end of it so we went to the café onsite for lunch. They even have peacocks walking around the café area. We ordered burger and chips and Chhori had nuggets.

hamilton zoo (5)

There is a playground inside the zoo as well so Chhori and I managed to have fun for a while on the swing before we left the zoo.

hamilton zoo (28)

I have to admit we all had great fun. A perfect way to spend a day in Hamilton.

Next stop Hamilton Garden, see you soon with that post.

Take care everyone,

Valentine’s Day 2016

It was V day a few days ago; and I got around to doing the post a bit late.

Anyway hope all of you had a great day with your loved ones.

Valentine's day 2016 (4)

This year, it was Chhori’s first V day so we made it special for her by taking a few photos. I always want her to remember this day as a happy time shared with family. I also want her to know that we love her a lot and will be there for her no matter what.

Here are some photos from the day with Chhori. I hope these photos will tell her many stories in the years to come.

Also in the morning, AS made a very yummy breakfast. I have to give him A+ for his effort and the result. He made this nice round pancake with a red heart in the middle accompanied with mixed berry smoothies. It took him quite some time in the kitchen though 🙂

Valentine's Day 2016 (1)

Chhori was very excited and happy about everything. When we put her in front of the breakfast tray, she was so excited that we couldn’t stop her from trying to grab everything.

Valentine's Day 2016 (2)

This year for Valentine’s we became 3 from 2 and I love it so much. Hope one day in a few years, it will be 4 from 3 and we have a complete family 🙂

Valentine's day 2016 (3)

Take care everyone and hope to see you with another post very soon.
