Celebrating Teej with Friends – A Festival of Food, Dance, and Fun

This year’s Teej celebrations were such a beautiful surprise for me! 🌸✨

I ended up joining so many different Teej Ko Daar gatherings with different groups of friends, and each one had its own unique charm. There was endless food (seriously, the feasting never stopped), lots of laughter, hours of dancing, and of course—plenty of TikToks being made along the way. It was festive, colourful, and full of energy from start to finish.

What made it even more meaningful is that I’m Newar, and I didn’t really grow up celebrating Teej in the traditional way. But because of my friends, I was able to immerse myself in the joy of the festival this year—and I absolutely loved every part of it! Sometimes, it’s the people around you who make a festival special, and that’s exactly how it felt.

From finding outfit inspiration online, to getting dressed up in gorgeous festive looks, to sharing meals and dancing until we were all out of breath—the celebrations were about so much more than just tradition. They were about togetherness, joy, and creating memories that will stick with me for years.

Teej this year wasn’t just about celebrating—it was about connection, culture, and pure fun.

I’m so grateful to my friends for including me in their traditions and making me feel part of something bigger. Can’t wait to do it all over again next year! 💃

Why Every Mum Needs a Girls’ Getaway

Just got back from the most amazing girls’ trip to Cairns, and wow—I didn’t realise how much I needed that break until I was in it.

We booked a lovely hotel right near the water, the kind where you wake up to palm trees and sunshine pouring through the curtains. We planned a few excursions— just enough to feel like we were doing something special. Think reef tours, beach strolls, cocktails by the pool… the good stuff.

Coming from soggy, cold Sydney, stepping into Cairns’ warm tropical weather felt like heaven. No jumpers, no rain, just that beautiful Far North Queensland sunshine that instantly lifts your mood. We were living in our swimmers and sundresses, and honestly, I didn’t miss the layers one bit.

But the best part? The company. There’s something so special about being with your girls—no pressure, no roles to play, just open chats and loads of laughs. We talked about everything and nothing, stayed up too late, danced like no one was watching, and just enjoyed being ourselves. It’s amazing how much lighter you feel when you’re surrounded by people who really get you.

And that’s why I’ll never stop saying how important these little escapes are. Life is busy, and as mums, partners, workers—we’re always doing something for someone else. But there’s real magic in stepping away for a bit and just being you.

If you’ve been thinking about planning a girls’ trip—do it. Don’t overthink it. You don’t need a massive budget or a long itinerary. Just pick a place, gather your favourite people, and go. The laughs, the chats, the memories—it’s all so worth it.

To my beautiful girls, thank you for being exactly what I needed. My heart feels full, my spirit feels light, and I already can’t wait for the next one. 💛🌴🍹

Mum’s Day Out

After becoming a mum, I’ve realised how essential it is to take some time for myself. Stepping away now and then helps me recharge and return to my kids as a more present and patient mum.

I usually catch up with my girlfriends, and it’s always such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. This time, we went out for dinner at Tibetan Nepalese Restaurant in Harris Park. We made the most of the evening, filled with good food, laughter, and live music.

The night kicked off with some refreshing drinks, followed by goat and buffalo sekuwa—both packed with flavour—and a delicious paprika chaat and Chatpates. I also tried fulka for the first time, and it was quite an interesting addition to the spread!

For mains, we indulged in chops and momos. The jhol momos were okay, but the Tibetan momos completely stole the spotlight—absolutely delightful! To top it off, we ended the night with some freshly made, crispy jalebi from a famous spot nearby. It was definitely worth the stop!

These outings are a perfect way to unwind and reconnect, both with friends and myself. They leave me feeling refreshed and ready to dive back into the beautiful chaos of motherhood.

How do you spend your “me time” away from the kids? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
