Before I started this blog I never thought I could really write. I have always loved to read and write but never had the courage to share my writing. When I was in school, I used to keep a diary but I never shared that with anyone. Before I left for Australia, I burned them all, no idea why but I have only one of the many diaries that I used to keep, with me now.
When I first started writing this blog, I didn’t know if anyone would ever read what I wrote. After reading lots of blogs, I felt like I wanted to share my thoughts and feeling as well. But I wasn’t sure if anyone else would ever read it. I really need to thank my husband who encouraged me to write and told me, “You just write and see how things go.”
And I am glad I listened to him. Now I write regularly and it helps me to be happy and relaxed. I have formed lots of friendship through blogging and there are people who read what I write. Thanks everyone for following and reading my blog because without all of you I could never have continued.
Anyway, at the end of last year, +977 ( a Nepalese Lifestyle Magazine in Australia) contacted me to write an article for their magazine that they were planning to publish. +977 is the country code to call Nepal from overseas, in case you are wondering what the name of the magazine stands for. They found me through my blog and contacted me. I wrote an article and submitted it to them.
After a while, they contacted me again and asked me if I would be happy to get more involved in the magazine. So we did, both me and my husband, became part of the magazine as we love to be creative. We worked for the magazine along with other members of the team and got the magazine out on the market from the vision board.
To cut the long story short after a few months of hard work, +977 magazines is out in the market and YES I AM A PUBLISED WRITER NOW.
Apart from the initial article, I did a cover story with my friend Mingma from iScribble as well as I did an article on Revolution Radio. Of course as you all know I am into fashion, so there is a piece about it as well. Here are my published articles. Please let me know what you think about them. I will upload the full articles soon.
Thank you once again everyone for all the support. Please support the magazine by liking their Facebook page.

Congratulations on your writing! It is very exciting.
Like you, I really enjoy writing. I took a writing class in college, but other than that I always wrote mostly for myself. I kept journals, and wrote extensive emails to friends and family when I traveled. Four years ago I started reading blogs, and after a year of reading and commenting I thought… hey, I can do this too! And started my own. Six months after starting the blog, I thought about wanting to take my writing more seriously and joined a writer’s group in my city, and I feel my writing has become stronger and tighter ever since.
I recently submitted a non-fiction story to be considered for an international educators travel anthology… I haven’t heard back yet on whether it will be accepted… but I probably wouldn’t have had the guts to submit something had I not already participated in the blogging world.
Then you gave me the opportunity to try and write something for +977. It’s was the first time I ever saw my work in print. When you sent me the email telling me it was in the magazine, I couldn’t stop smiling all day. Once I saw the pdf of the article in the magazine I was over the moon… emailing it to friends and family. It felt so good, but it also helped me to think… hey maybe I could do more.
I’m inspired to start revising some of my pieces that I’ve kept in dusty folders in my file cabinet, and I’m interested in trying to send more pieces out to see if other magazines might be interested. It’s been a great boost to my confidence to have something accepted by +977, and I’m really grateful.
And a series of things (including some research work, a conference I’ve attended, and my recent writing experiences) have inspired me to work on a new project at my office… in the fall I’m launching a new online publication for our campus that will be on international and intercultural experiences of our university community… I’m hoping study abroad students, international students, faculty and staff will share photos, stories, poetry and artwork to help educate and better connect campus on international issues in our community.
It may sound bit cliché but you are one of the reason I started blogging and started writing again so thank you so much CCP. I am glad that I was able to be part of your +977 journey. I have always loved your writing and I think you are great at it. Hope you will have lots of published articles soon and the book deal will come your way one day soon as well. 🙂
Waiting for the online publication to launch. Please do share when it is ready.
Definitely 🙂
Welcome back. Excited to hear about your experiences abroad.
