On the weekend, I went to visit my friend who just had a baby girl. She is so cute and adorable.Anyway, while I was there, I got a call from my bank.
Bank: “Is this M?”
Me: “Yes”.
Bank: “I am calling from your bank. Just checking if you purchased something worth $3300 over the internet just now.”
Me: “No, I haven’t. I am not even at home”
Bank: “Looks like your account has been hacked then, I will cancel the transaction and I’ll have to cancel your credit card as well. We will send you another card in a few days.”
Me: “Yes, please, thank you very much.”
I was worried for a while as I thought I might have lost my credit card and someone found it. However, we located both mine and AS cards but somehow some doggy person managed to get the details of my credit card and shop online.
Thank god that my bank was proactive otherwise, it would have taken ages to get the money back. I am still wondering from where my details were leaked. We have good anti-virus on our laptop and on our mobiles. I don’t use that credit card to shop online, except for direct debit for bills.
Anyway, I am without a credit card for few weeks until the bank sort things out and sends me a new one but my head is still working hard to find out from where the problem arose.
Just want to warn everyone to make sure you check your online statements for your cards regularly and if anything out of ordinary appears, contact the bank immediately even if the transaction is for 10 cents.
It’s Australia day on Sunday here so wishing all The Aussies out there a very Happy Australia Day. If you want to know deals please click here. Enjoy the long weekend.
