Prabal Gurung’s Spring/Summer 2015

My favourite designer, Prabal Gurung just showcased his latest collection. His latest collection is inspired by native Nepal and is playful with texture and silhouette, offering his signature feminine styles mixed with an unexpected dose of androgynous charm.

In his SS15, the designer wanted to continue what he began last season. ″I wanted to continue the journey,″ he said. ″This time it′s more a visual diary of her trek up the mountains.″ We′re back in the Himalayas, only now it′s spring. Instead of deep reds, he used a palette of sunset pastels.

According to Vouge, Prabal Gurung went for a more undressed approach with sassy slashes, slits and keyhole flashes of flesh. Sporty in silhouette with racer-back vest styles and little flirty skirts, his midnight tones and dusky grey-purple palette kept it regal and evening worthy – iridescence incarnating short shifts and T-shirt numbers – while zingy knits continued along this peek-a-boo vein, veering off around the body. And this was very much the theme and silhouette of the collection, drawing on frills and spills of hemlines as it went, the shorter dresses towards the end of which were the prettiest and most covetable.

The collection got lots of positive reviews from fashion editors and fashionistas.

I am in love with  the awesome prints of Himalayas and clouds. Of course, I loved it all but here are my favourites.

Apart from the clothes, I am lusting on those amazing killer heels.

Prabal Gurung Resort 2015

Inspired by a show of the British artist Matthew Stone’s work at The Hole gallery, Prabal Gurung ( my favourite designer), named his latest Resort collection: Unconditional Love. He said he approached his striking new Resort collection as if it were a “one-stop shop from morning to evening”. The idea, he explained, was prompted by all the traveling he’s been doing to trunk shows in places as far-flung as Singapore and Toronto.

I love everything from this collection, from tees and sweatshirts to floor-length gala dresses with prints or jacquards designed to evoke Stone’s brushstrokes. The prints and jacquards came in vivid shades of red or blue, sometimes mingled together, and they turned the clothes into moving canvases.

Here are some of my favourite from the collections..And looks at those choose, love love love.

Apart from his latest collection, he is definitely making waves around the world and doing a great job.

Take care,

Prabal Gurung Ready to wear Fall 2014 collection

My favourite designer, Prabal Gurung, just showcased his ready to wear Fall 2014 collection and I have to say it is one of my favourite collections so far. The collection reflects the kingdom of Mustang, a part of Dhaulagiri Zone, one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, and definitely the most amazing place in earth. I am in love with the vivid shades of saturated crimson and saffron worked into rich layered looks, filled with draping that recalls the robes of monks. The lot of his cashmere were produced in Nepal which adds to the collection’s vibrancy.

The catwalk was dominated by marigold, crimson, bordeaux, black, gray, and ivory palette and featured asymmetry, wrapped fabric, embroidery, masterful draping, high slits, hiked hemlines, and the mixing of textures and proportion– soft chiffon micro skirts paired with big chunky sweaters.

Of course I loved it all but here are my favourites.

And here is the full collection.

The man himself 🙂

Take care everyone ,

Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2014

My favorite designer, Prabal Gurung is out with his Pre Fall 2014 collection and they are just amazing with bows, lush rose prints, ostrich feathers, flirty minis, tailored cropped capri pants, tie-front peplum top and of course evening gowns.

Here are some of my favorite pieces.

Femininity with a bite… This is how Prabal Gurung describes the shapes he intends to create for meeting the needs of his customers. According to him, this variety of luxurious with minimalistically chic and also casual wear are just what ladies need most for their best looks. So that’s what has been interpreted with the language of fashion in the impressive Prabal Gurung pre-fall 2014 collection. The strictly feminine and classic designs are followed with some modernized and impressive options, which sometimes are observed in a single combo with each other, too.

If you like sophisticated and chic items, please check his collection and I am sure you will love them.

“There’s such a feeling of satisfaction when something you imagined turned into something real”.

Take care everyone,

Prabal Gurung : A Fashion designer from Nepal

It is always so good to see anyone from Nepal doing well in an international level and I am so glad to see Prabal Gurung in the international fashion arena.

I saw his designs on Michelle Obama, Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana and Oprah Winfrey. I just love him and his creations.

Here is the excerpt from his website introducing him.

“Gurung was born in Singapore and raised in Kathmandu,Nepal. It was in New Delhi,India that his design career truly began. While studying at New Delhi’s National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gurung freelanced at several production and fashion houses and apprenticed with Manish Arora. His travels took him to Melbourne and London, where he assisted stylists for various fashion shows and editorials at international publications. In 1999, Gurung moved to New York City. He began his career in New York interning for Donna Karan while attending Parsons School of Design. In his first year, he was awarded the “Best Designer” title at the annual Parsons /FITdesign competition.

After Parsons, Gurung spent two years with Cynthia Rowley’s design and production team, which allowed him to gain even more invaluable experience within the fashion industry. Soon after, he was appointed design director at the iconic Bill Blass. After five successful years, Gurung left his post at Blass to launch his own collection, PRABAL GURUNG.”

Look at his collection from Spring 2012 collect here . They are so amazing and beautiful. No wonder so many celebrities loves his collection.

Sarah Jessica Parker  was in Australia recently and she wore Prabal Gurung. It was just beautiful.

He is also the goodwill ambassador for Maiti Nepal .  This is what he told ekantipur about his association, “A society free from human trafficking is possible and we must realise that it is our responsibility to make this world a better place for all mankind. By simply stating our desire, we sow the seeds of great change,”

Best wishes for all the good work.
