Happy 35th Anniversary Dad & Mum

Thirty-five years of marriage…wow, that is a long time! That is how many years my parents have been married for. Lucky for us, they were in Sydney so I, my brother along with AS and my SIL decided that this was the time to celebrate.

My parents were not very keen to have a celebration at first but the as we talked about it they came around and finally we decided to have the celebration for their 35 years of union.

Why do I admire my parents and their 35 years of marriage?

First of all they had an arranged marriage as I have talked before in my blog. They met only a couple of times before their marriage. But their marriage has everything a couple needs to have in a successful marriage and I am so proud to call them my parents.

It is said that you don’t really appreciate your parents until you become one, and I have to say that is at least partially true. I admit that I probably never truly appreciated how hard it is to raise a child until I had Chhori. Now I truly understand the sacrifices they made so I and my brother could get the best possible things in our life. I am not sure I will ever be able to match that with my children but I will surely try.

My parents have also taught me many lessons in my life. They have taught me that love is true and that love can last forever. I love my parents and I am proud to be their daughter.

So to celebrate the special day, we booked a restaurant, invited 40 – 50 close friends and family and made the day one to remember. I made sure my mum was dressed like a bride in a red saree and dad in his finest suit.

We ordered a cake with their old photo on it and decorated the restaurant with banners and balloons.

The evening started with a family photo shoot and as guests started to arrive, the fun began. We had lots of fun with drinks, food and dance. Sharing a few photos from the day.

Introducing our beautiful daughter (Chhori)

After writing so much about my pregnancy, sorry I disappeared. As many of you might have guessed, I was a bit busy lately.

It is AS and my absolute pleasure to introduce our beautiful daughter, Little M. Our lives have been enriched by the arrival of our beautiful girl and I look forward to sharing many more posts with you in the coming weeks, months, years.

In this blog, I will refer her as Chhori from now on which means daughter in Nepali language.

chhori (4)

Chhori was born on Friday 20 February, 2 weeks before her due date. She came in her own way, on her own time, and turned our lives over in the meantime.

Like every mother I am biased but I think she is an absolute stunner and we feel truly blessed to have her in our life.

Adjusting to our new life has not been easy but I am so glad to have my lovely husband and amazing mum to help me with Chhori. I know we are only 12 days in but I am loving every minute of motherhood and I know there will be a lot more to in the future. AS and I are truly struggling to find the words to describe how life has changed for us. No matter how prepared you try to be, you can’t really understand how it will feel, what will change, what you will accept and what you will struggle with; until you hold your baby in your arms.  And even then, we are still at a loss for words.

We have had busy days since her birth, with lots of visitors and she has been spoiled by friends and family.

I will try my best to blog whenever I can or I should say when my new boss allow me some spare time. Till then,

Take care,

from nepaliaustralian

Birthday Celebration!!!

Well, you KNOW I love birthdays and today it happens to be mine :)! If you’ve followed me for a while you know my birthday is a time for celebration.

As life has been a bit busy these days due to so many reasons which I will post later so we didn’t plan a lot this year. We are going to dinner tonight with my brother’s family, AS’s uncle’s family and his cousins. It is planned to be a simple day.

But my day changed completely just now when I got a delivery of a lovely bouquet of roses as well as a Swarovski necklace with my name and a personalised card. Of course, it was from my darling husband and I was so please and surprised at the same time. Even after so many years of our marriage, he is still making me feel special and I feel so blessed to have him in my life. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I loved the red roses and the necklace is just lovely.

Nepaliaustralian turns 3!!!

I am very pleased to announce that it is the three-year anniversary of nepaliaustralian tomorrow. As I am going to be away for next few days, I thought I would write a post today.

Right now I am at airport waiting to board :). Feeling exited and happy to be away from daily life. I am already in relaxation mode.

It was on September 13th, 2011 that I first published my first post and to be honest it doesn’t feel that long ago. I guess this is how things work when you love what you are doing, time just flies and you look back and wonder how quick it went.

So many amazing things have happened in the past years because of this blog. Starting a blog was one of the best things I’ve ever done. This little blog has documented so many moments and thoughts of mine over the last three years that I am incredibly thankful to have a little space in this corner of the internet. For me, this space has and will always be a place where I can write and ramble to my heart’s content. Over the years I’ve found that with age, my memory fades and the words and photos here bring back to life little moments that would have been otherwise forgotten.

Overall it’s been a very rewarding, challenging and exciting learning curve to share these years with you and I wanted to thank you all deeply for all your interactions. Thank you for reading, thank you for caring, thank you for commenting, thank you for helping make this blog something I love writing. This blog has given me many good friends and I wanted to say thank you to all of you for your love and support along the way. I have the greatest readers, I really do and I am so appreciative of this great blogging community.

Today the blog has garnered 743 posts, 68 pages, have 7654 comments with 677,956 page views and 3455 followers as well as people from more than 220 countries visiting my blog!

So, Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! I promise to continue with this blog, on a frequent or semi-frequent basis as long as I am cable of writing my thoughts. Whether this is your first time visiting or you have been here since the beginning, I hope my posts go on to bring you much insight and joy.

I have a virtual cake for all to hand around! Cheers!!!

nepaliaustralian third birthday

P.S: To celebrate the occasion like last year, I will be opening nomination for Nepaliaustralian’s Blog Award 2014 so watch out for my next post.

See you everyone after my vacation, till then take care everyone.
