Finding a perfect foundation

Beauty shopping is normally fun, trying different shades of lipsticks and gloss or going through palettes upon palettes of pretty shadows finding new shades is always an adventure. One thing I hate though is shopping for foundations.

I believe foundation is one of the most important beauty regime but still finding the right foundation had been a very time consuming and annoying experience for me. In the last 5-6 years since I started using make up, I tried numerous foundation. I am sure it is every woman’s problem, to get a foundation that matches their skin colour and type.

I had stand in front of the cosmetic section in a store trying to figure out whether I am sandy beige, beige or a toasted almond. There is also the choice between powder, stick, or liquid foundation. On top of that all these foundation are expensive so that buying and trying each of them means you have a lighter wallet and a stack of different foundations that you will never use.

So it took me ages to find one that suited me perfectly after testing so many different brands. Surprisingly, I found it while I was visiting Nepal.

The brand that worked perfectly for me was Isadora. It is a Swedish cosmetics brand and it was suggested to me by a cousin. Initially I was not very keen to try it as I had never heard of the brand but I was surprised when I did, it was perfect for my skin, evening out my complexion without being noticeable. I was so impressed that I bought 4 bottles to bring it to Australia.

I was very happy with it and have continued to use it for a few years now. Every time I go to Nepal, I buy a few bottles so I have enough stock with me. Also when my parents or in laws visited us, I asked them to buy a few bottles for me so I always had a good supply of the foundation.

But unfortunately the shop that sold the foundation stopped stocking it. I called them, emailed them but the answer was final. They were not going to restock it.

I was so sad that that I had to go through the process of finding another foundation as I could not find Isadora products in Australia. I even mailed the company in Sweden to find out if they had any partners here in Australia, but alas they did not. My only option was to get it shipped from Sweden but then the company doesn’t sell to the public directly. They just gave me the names of a few re-sellers in Sweden but most of them don’t ship outside Europe.

Finally after searching through many pages of Google translate (wish I knew someone who spoke Swedish), I found one website which ships to Australia. So I emailed them to check if they will definitely ship to Australia and when I received a positive reply I was ecstatic. Finally I could just buy from their website and I could still use my favourite foundation.

So, I went onto their website to order the product and when I reached the page with the shipping options I couldn’t find the option to ship to Australia anywhere. It required me to send an email again and after few emails, I managed to finally place my order.

After 3 weeks, I received my product and now I am so happy.

While I was going through this entire ordeal, AS once asked me why I couldn’t find something else so I could easily buy it in Australia. I told him that after many trial and errors I had found one foundation which is perfect for me, I really didn’t want to go through the whole process again. Anyway, the problem is resolved now and I am not going to whinge about foundations for a long time 🙂

Do you have beauty story like that. What foundation you are using and are you happy?

Take care.,

The worst feeling in the world

Chhori has been sick for the last few days and I feel so helpless. As she can’t talk yet, she can’t tell us what’s wrong with her. Poor baby has been vomiting after nearly every meal.

It all started Saturday morning. We were having a good Saturday morning until we had breakfast. As soon as Chhori finished her breakfast, Weetabix and milk, she vomited it all out. It was not just a normal vomit but this was like a projectile where she vomited out everything she had just eaten.

chhori

We cleaned her up and checked her to see if she had a fever or anything else. She seemed OK and she was happily playing with her toys as normal. So we decided it may be something in the breakfast she that couldn’t digest though this is her normal breakfast. Sometime it is normal for babies to vomit.

In the afternoon, we did some house hold chores sand prepared lunch. We fed Chhori first as she didn’t have much to eat the whole morning. She was good and finished everything on her plate. I was happy as she seemed all ok and eating again. But within a minute, she vomited again taking out everything she had.

I was worried at that stage but we were not too sure what to do. Our normal GP is on holiday and we didn’t want to go to the hospital yet.

We cleaned her up again and checked if she had a fever. She seemed normal and wanting to eat what we had in our plate. We thought it is a good sign and she is willing to eat so we gave her some rice and veggies and she seemed ok.

She was ok the rest of the day and I was relieved when she didn’t vomit after her dinner. She was playing with my nephew and was her happy self.

Sunday morning at 2 am, I breastfed her and she went back to her cot to sleep as normal. But within a minute, she vomited, and a big amount too. She vomited the milk she just drank and everything she had for dinner. It was bad to see her all covered in vomit half sleep.

We both woke up and cleaned her up, her cot and our bed. She was awake at this stage but didn’t want to go back to sleep so I was carrying her whole time. As soon as AS finished fixing up our bed I took her to our bed and, we were contemplating what to do at that time of night.

Emergency department in the hospital is not a very good idea as it will be a long wait. We had that experience last time when we took Chhori to the hospital so we decided it is best to call the the 24 hour GP. We have a special service where a GP will visit you at home after hours. We called them and they informed us that the next available GP won’t be at our place until 7 am in the morning. We decided that it should be ok.

In the meantime, Chhori was calm and went to sleep in a few minutes. At 6 am, our doorbell rang and it was the GP.

He checked Chhori properly and told us that it may be some king of gastro other than that she is fine. It was a relief to hear that as I was worried it might be something more serious. Sunday morning she was mostly fine expect she vomited a small amount after breakfast.

Our whole weekend was over just making sure Chhori as OK. I am glad she is doing well so far. But it was one of the worst feelings to see her sick and in pain and we were so helpless.

I am sure there will be more instances in the future when she will be unwell but at least when she is able to talk I hope we can help her more. But a baby who can’t speak and can’t tell you what is wrong makes parents feel helpless.

I hope all you had better weekend than I did.

Take care.,

Not looking forward to winter

It’s autumn in Australia right now. The weather has been pretty good for autumn giving us a few warm days in a week. Most afternoons are still nice to go out and about and I am managing to take Chhori to parks often after work.

Chhori (3)

She loves going to the park now as she can run around or play on the swing or slides. I love seeing her so happy.

Chhori (1) Chhori (2)

As she is home with my parents most of the days, it is nice to see her running around after we get home. It also gives AS and me some time to just relax and watch our daughter without household chores taking up our time. It is a perfect time for me to spend with the most important people in my life. If we don’t go to the park, we just go for a walk but we do go out.

Chhori (4)

But everything is going to change soon. Last weekend we had day light savings switch our clocks an hour back. That means the days are getting shorter and by the time we get home, it is almost dark and we don’t get an opportunity to go out. On top of that winter will be here before would I like it to be and I am so unhappy about it.

As you know already, I hate winter and I am going to hate it even more because we will be stuck in our apartment more during the cold season. It was okay for adults to just cover-up and stay in front of the TV but I don’t want that for Chhori.

I am not sure how I can help Chhori to be active in the evenings during weekdays if we can’t go to the park. We still have weekends which we will utilise to the fullest but she will miss out going out in the evenings.

Please suggest any good activates indoors with a 1 year old. I would like her to enjoy and spend time with us. I am sure I am not the only one with similar issues. Thank you all in advance for helping me every time when I am kind of lost about what to do.

Take care everyone,

BioAge Report

The gym I was going to offered a free BioAge test for the team who won one of their challenges and lucky for me I was in that team. Before that I was not aware of BioAge.

A BioAge assessment gives you an extensive health assessment that will allow you to compare your chronological age with your measured biological age, as well as advice on how to reduce your biological age and improve your longevity.

Source : BioAgetest.com

For my BioAge test, I had to fill a form which had questions regarding my health and my diet. Then they measured my weight, height, BMI and after that they got me to do a few physical tests like plank, steps, crunches and some more exercises.

exercise (2)

It took around 40 minutes for the entire test to finish and I got the result the next day.

The result stays that my biological age is a lot younger than my chronological age, 8.5 years to be precise.

exercise (1)

I am very happy with the result actually because I have doubts about my fitness at times and with this test I know I am in a good place. I could still build some more strength and could improve it further. One thing I noticed was that not smoking and not drinking alcohol helps to positively increase the gap between the chronological age and the biological age.

Take care everyone,

Easter long weekend fun

Last weekend we had a few extra days off as it was the Easter long weekend so we planned to utilise it to the fullest. It is autumn here but the weather is still warm so the plan was to be outdoors and have fun.

chhori

One of the days we went to the Helensburg temple. I have told you about the temple here before. It is really nice to go for a drive, visit the temple and enjoy some yummy vegetarian Indian lunch as well.

We went there with my parents and my brother’s family. Chhori was really happy to be out and about as she has started walking and loves to explore everything. The temple was busy as it was a public holiday but we had fun. There was a long queue at the canteen for food but the wait was well worth it.

On the next day we went to the Easter show. The last time we went there was 4 years ago and I had written about it . It happens every year but I don’t see a point going there every year. But this year was special as my parents were here and it was going to be Chhori’s first time as well.

Chhori loved everything about the show as she got to run around and touch whatever she wanted.

easter (7)

The best place was the Farmyard where she got to touch the baby goats and sheep. She was ok with the small animals but the big ones scared her a little.

My parents enjoyed the show as well and they were tired at the end. We were blessed with good sunny weather as well on the day.
