My Valentine’s Day 2015

Normally I love Valentine’s Day and as you know from my previous posts from past here , here and here, I plan things for the day in advance.  But when you are as heavily pregnant as I am, you are not as excited about Valentine’s Day. All I want these days is to get a good night’s rest and for baby to come to this world safely.

So when AS asked a few days ago, what I wanted to do for Valentine’s Day which fell on a Saturday this year, my answer was to stay home and rest. I did get my wish and lots more for sure.

I know Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean just red roses, cards, chocolates or gifts but it means love, care, hugs and affection and I am so glad to have a partner who showers me with all that and lots more.

As I told you before, I keep waking up in the middle of the night, these days and it is so hard to go back to sleep. So on the morning of 14th, I woke up early (4am) and was struggling to go back to sleep. I was so thirsty as well and to my dismay, the bottle next to my bed was empty so I woke AS and ask if he could get me some water.

What he came back with took my sleep and tiredness away and made me so happy for rest of the day. He had a bouquet of roses and a wonderful card. I am not sure how he manged it but every year he manages to surprise me and make me so happy. He makes me feel like a Princess and he is definitely the best man a woman could ever wish to have by her side.

valentine's day (3)The roses were just perfect and card was heart touching.

It read:

To You,

My Lover, Partner and Friend

on Valentine’s Day

I wish one special word

could describe

all you mean to me…

1 word that would say

parent, friend,lover

all in one

…but since a word like that

doesn’t exist.

I hope you know that

when I say “I love you”,

I mean all that and more…

because you mean

everything ti me.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Anyway after that, he made sure I was comfortable and OK and put something on the TV for me (normally this helps me go back to sleep). I must have drifted back to sleep soon after as I don’t know when I fall asleep.

In the morning, we had a nice home cooked breakfast and had a great-relaxed day.

valentine's day (1)This pregnancy is getting to me for sure because, by afternoon I was sleepy again so decided to take a nap. I was awakened by the nice aroma of food. I really did not know what was happening so I went to the kitchen.

My hubby was busy preparing lunch for us and he was almost done. He asked me to relax and served me homed cooked yummy lunch. It was a really great idea than going out this year for sure. The rest of the day we enjoyed each other’s company. My day was so perfect that sometimes I couldn’t believe what I have done to deserve a husband like him. Seriously, I couldn’t have asked anything more.

valentine's day (2)

I fall deeper in love with him and he is definitely one of the most caring and handsome man that ever walked on Earth. I have to say he is the most important man in my life on this day and he always knows how to make me feel precious and beautiful and I am so blissfully happy to have found the perfect man.

Can you believe this is the last valentine’s day that will be between two of us only, then for rest of our life, we will have another addition to our family, our daughter to make our love even stronger,

So how was your Valentine’s Day? Hope you all had a blissful day too.

Take care,

Our Story : Valentine’s day – Part 30

This is a continuation of my previous posts. Please read the previous posts here.

After the arrival of AS in Sydney, time just seemed to fly. We always made plans for the weekend and were having the time of our life. Then came another important day, our first Valentine’s day together. We had celebrated the last valentine’s day but as you know it was not together.

We wanted to make this Valentine’s day memorable so we decided that we would go to Sydney tower to celebrate the day. We choose Sydney Tower Buffet as we wanted the cliche and the novelty of a revolving restaurant overlooking one of the world’s most beautiful harbours – and we certainly weren’t disappointed with the view.

The restaurant has panoramic views from the tallest building in Sydney.  The restaurant keeps rotating so you can spot Darling Harbour, Circular Quay, Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Blue Mountains and more every time you glance out of the rotating restaurant’s windows. It was a perfect place for AS to go in Sydney.

It was a weekday that Valentine’s day so we came back from work, changed quickly so we could catch a train to the city and be there at our reservation time.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was beautiful and the view was amazing. We loved the food and everything that day was just perfect. The highlights of the dishes were probably the honey glazed ham, and the lamb braised in a yoghurt dressing with chickpeas. We loved every bit of our food.

After dinner, we just roam around the city and I was really happy that finally both of us were together forever.

Happy Valentine’s Day my dear Husband

Today is Valentine’s Day and I had a great start. I woke up to this awesome message on our kitchen bench top this morning. Thank you my dear, can’t wipe smile off my face ❤ ❤ ❤

valentine (1)

He also send the following message.

Thank you for coming into my life. You make me complete.
You are my everything.Once again, be my Valentine.

Happy Valentines Day Love.

I am very happy and here is a love letter to my thoughtful romantic husband 🙂

My dear husband AS,

It is Valentine’s Day today and I can’t help but remember our very first valentine’s day, the day when we were miles apart but you made it so much special for me anyway. (If you haven’t read the post, here is the link.)

Like every year, love is in the air and I couldn’t stop myself but feel extremely lucky to have someone so special in my life. I know I don’t say that every day but I like you to know that you are the reason I wake up smiling every morning. You are the reason that my heart beats. As the years go by, I stop and think about all the memories we have made, the good times we have shared and the love between us that keeps growing.

I know I am stubborn and not always so easy to get along with and I know my insecurities sometimes get the best of me. I am very thankful that you are in my life when I need someone to hold me and tell me everything is going to be OK.

Life has become more meaningful because of you. I admire the way you inspire me to face life with so much faith and strength. We have been through a lot and yet we are still together and stronger than ever.

I love you not because of your good looks, your awesome body and how much you earn . I love you because I am a better person when I am with you. You have been my best friend from the beginning and I could not imagine life without you. Thank you for sharing your life with me. I love you.

Forever Yours,

M

Do you think buying greeting cards is a waste of money and paper?

Every Christmas, millions of people all around the world post greeting card to their loved ones spending millions of dollars. I always feel that people spend so much looking for really good greeting cards, spending lots of time and energy…

Like every one of you, I do buy greeting cards for occasions like Birthdays, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thank You Notes, Sympathy Cards, Get Well Cards, Thinking of You cards and so on. A few weeks ago it was my brother’s birthday so I went and bought a card for him which cost me $4.95. Today I again went and bought a card for my SIL and spent $6.00. I spend more for SIL as there were less cards to choose from that said SIL in it.

I was just wondering while I was buying these cards, is it really worth it to spend money on these cards which will be read once and thrown away in most cases. If you walk to the greeting card section of a supermarket or bookshop, there are more types of greeting cards for sale than there are days in a month.

Growing up, I used to collect all the cards I got for my birthdays and other occasions and I still have them in a box at my mum’s place but these days, I don’t feel too sentimental about these cards unless it is from my husband or my parents. I have never read any card more than once. If I really like the card, I take a photo of it and that is about it.

Looking around me, I see that most of the people also do the same. Especially for young children as they can’t even read yet everyone always buys them birthday cards. Normally they are interested in gifts rather than the cards so are we simply wasting our money on these cards?

These days I started to feel that buying greeting cards are a waste of hard earned money, for ultimately it will either be torn up in the long run, or go into some bag in a corner of your house.

I love the idea of making my own cards. A personalized note or letter with a meaningful message really goes further than a store-bought card. The sentiments in handwritten cards are far more intimate than generic Hallmark Greetings sentiments and the messages are far more specifically intended for the recipient.

But you really can’t make a personalised card to everyone so I think in this day and age e-cards are a good alternative for the people who use email. It is free and you can make it personal as well. One can choose a nice card and send it via the net and no postman, no courier, no cost. I love the animated silly ones which brings a smile. It also reduces paper waste.

I really want to head to this direction but sometimes I feel compelled to buy the card for someone because they have bought me one on my birthday or anniversary. The cost of greeting cards has increased steadily over the years and the money could be better spent in buying other stuff for the person. I know it’s the thought that counts but giving them gifts without a card makes me a bit uncomfortable. I really don’t want to upset anyone.

So I have decided to buy a card when I have to and my option would be then to buy the cards made and promoted by the organisations like the UNICEF or WORLD VISION.

Personally I used to look forward to one when I was younger but not so much anymore. I prefer something more practical these days. I think e-card/emails or even mms/sms or Facebook post would do the trick to convey the message.

What are you thoughts on greeting cards, do you still feel compelled to purchase pre-printed greeting cards?

Till next post, take care.
