The Final 10,000 steps

Yesterday was the last day of our 10,000 steps competition. For the whole month I had done 391,176 steps with an average of 13,489 steps per day.

steps

Our team has five people and we managed to rack up 1,762,967 steps.

However, we are not the team with the most steps as some other team has as many as 2,898,329.

Here is the graph for my last week.

It has been a great experience and like in past winters, I have not put on any weight, instead I feel better and have more energy most of the days. My best days are when I swim in the afternoon which makes me feel refreshed every time.I love my weekend yoga session as well 🙂

Even though the competition is over, I am planning to keep counting my steps so I know how much exercise I do every day. If I see it go too low, it encourages me to do something after I get home.

Keep exercising everyone.

Take care,

10,000 steps: Week 1 progress

As I mentioned in my previous post, the 10,000 steps program is going really well at work. I see everyone walking around with their pedometer and everyone trying to do some activities during lunchtime. Seriously, since this competition started, I have seen everyone around work trying to stay active and reach the target; which means this is really working.

One week down and three to go now but I am thinking to count my steps every day from now on so I know my activity level. I am hoping it will make me stay fit and healthy.

Here is the graph from my first week. I am really pleased with the result as I clocked more than 12,800 steps on average.

10,000 steps

Wednesday, the 21 of May was the most active day with 16,990 as that day I went for the bay run which is around 7km. The following day again I managed to do more than 16,000 steps as I was working hard to organise Australia’s biggest morning tea and it kept me quite busy.

I have days where I didn’t do 10,000 because it is really hard to do 10,000 steps if I exercise during the lunch time only. However, I am sure counting my steps has given me a real idea about how active I have been throughout the day and force me to exercise in the evening if I wasn’t active enough.

Happy exercising everyone, take care.

Game Of Thrones Season 4 – the shocker

Like all the other fans of Game of Thrones series, I was impatiently waiting for the season 4 to start as well. It had been more than 10 months. I started reading the book a while ago but then stopped as I wanted to enjoy the series first and enjoy the suspense every episode carries.

I was really excited when I got to watch the first episode last week. When it ended I couldn’t get enough and was eagerly waiting for the next one which I watched last night.

*SPOILER ALERT**

Please don’t read further if you haven’t watched the series and plan to watch it.

Having disliked Joffrey for 3 seasons now, I was waiting for someone to kill him and I secretly wished it to happen horribly but I was in for a shocker at the way he has been killed off on his wedding day.

Because he is one of the most hated characters in the show, I though he will be there for a while but no, they just decided to kill him. I am not shocked that he died but of the way he died. I wanted him to be killed in a much more brutal way than just a simple poising. I’m sure many people also felt he deserved a more extreme end than a simple, straight forward poisoning – which only took only about 20 seconds to kill him.

When we finished watching the show yesterday, I was a bit upset because that is not how I wanted the episode to end. However, having watched the series for 3 seasons now I should definitely have expected the unexpected from a writer who bumps off our favourite characters one by one.

Now everyone is speculating on who actually killed the king. I am so eager to find out and can’t wait for the next episode. AS knows as he’s read all the books but he just keeps mum on the topic!

Are you watching Games of Throne? Share your thoughts?

Take care until my next post.

Say cheese with a stranger

Imagine, you are outside somewhere minding your own business and out the blue a stranger comes and says “Do you mind if I take a photo with you?”

Does it sound strange to you? Yap I had the same feeling when it happened to me quite a few times in India. If it had been just once I would have ignored it but it happened quite a few times so I am thinking I may look like someone famous in India ;).

I have experienced this a number times and I didn’t know what to do so I agreed.

The first time was when I was visiting Delhi with my parents.

We were visiting the famous Fatehpur Sikri in Agra in India and we were minding our own business when this group of boys came and asked if I would mind taking photos with them. For a second I was confused but then I agreed. It happened again on the same trip when we were in Jaipur admiring the amazing architecture when a young couple wanted to take a photo with me. Of course, I smiled for the photos.

Both my parents and I were confused when it occurred twice in a few days. However, I forgot all about it completely until a few years later when we went to Tiger Hill in Darjeeling. It was a cold winter morning and everyone was trying to get the best spot to see the sunrise. There were hundreds of people there including my parents and I. A group of boys asked if I wanted to be in a photo with them. As it was so busy, I was slightly confused in the beginning but I agreed later on.

Just to be clear I was wearing normal cloths while these incidents occurred and I was not in a superwomen custom or a chicken suit. 🙂

New Caledonia (13)

I am writing it about it now after so many years because similar situation occurred in Kathmandu this time. I was in the mall with one of my friends. We were busying browsing the shops when two young gals came to us and asked if they could take a photo with us. They looked sweet and all so we agreed. I was just curious why they asked so once we were done, I asked them. They looked at each other for a second and then one of them told us that she just loved the way I looked and the things I was wearing; the other one added, you look so nice. That really made me smile for sure. I know it sounds so vain but it feels great to be complimented even by a stranger.

But to this day I still wonder why the people in India decided to take a pic with me.

When I talked to AS about it, he made fun of me but I am allowed to be curious so if anyone thinks they know the answer, I am all ears 🙂

Just a thought bouncing around in my head today. Hope all of you are having a great day. Take care.

Empty mind

Do you have days when you want to write but don’t know where to start? Today is one of those days for me; I have no idea where to start. I can’t blame it on jetlag anymore as its been over a week now since I returned. It’s been wet and rainy for the past few days so I could blame my condition on wet weather.

I am sure all of you know by now that I am a summer person and I love beach and barbeque so the autumn weather is not agreeing with me. It is ruining my plans.

Like on Friday, I decided to go for a run during lunchtime but it rained which meant I didn’t run thus no exercise for the day. On weekend , me and AS planned a little outing for ourselves to go to the city and have some fun but the stupid rain ruined it again and today I am hoping to go for run during the lunch time but the weather hasn’t been very promising. It’s been raining since morning and hope it will stop soon.

I wish last weekend had been bit longer as it was really nice to wake up late in the morning and not have to rush to anything. AS was great and made me breakfast yesterday while I did breakfast on Saturday. They were simple ones but I welcomed the change. All we did during the weekend was unpack, clean the house and rest. Not very productive as would have liked but I’m glad we had some time off.

I was Skyping with my mum yesterday and was missing her a lot. It feels so sad to leave my parents in Nepal and living here so far away in their old age. I am sure she didn’t expect that when she had us, one day we would not be around. This feeling always makes me feel so guilty and I feel sad that I can’t do anything about it anytime soon.

It has been over four years since I and AS got engaged and it is nice to feel and see how our relationship has evolved. I am so glad that we have gone through ups and downs to get us where we are. We have been tested multiple times and still managed to pass each phase and come out stronger. I am so glad he has been a strong support when I am in my crazy moods. May be this is why you need a partner to keep you sane and grounded.

Talking about family, as predicated everyone in Nepal highly recommended that we should have a baby soon. Their words were less subtle than I liked but the message was, “Have a baby now before it is too late.” AS and I had talk about baby a lot and we have our plans. Constantly hearing about it is not going to change our minds and we are determined that we will stick to our plan and make up our own minds.

Hope everyone is having a better Monday morning than I am. Have a good day.
