Happy Nepali New Year 2075 ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต

Today is Nepali New Year 2075. Yes, we are ahead of time ๐Ÿ˜Š.

As I have mentioned before, Nepal follows a different calendar than the Gregorian calendar so Nepali New Year falls on mid-April instead of 1stย of January. Bikram Sambat or Nepali Calendar or Nepali patro is approximately 56 years and 8ยฝ months ahead of the Gregorian calendar.

Last night we celebrated the new year eve with few friends eating yummy food and enjoying great company.

We all dressed up in kurta so we had a Nepali vibe . Chhori also loved her Nepali outfit and was happyย  throughout the evening.

What can be more Nepali than momo for food with aloo achar .

We also had cake so the kids help us cut it.

We really had great time .

A new beginningโ€ฆ
New hopesโ€ฆ
New horizons to reach forโ€ฆ
May the Sun radiate all the goodness of lifeโ€ฆ
In the coming year and always!
Happy Nepali New Year 2075 to all!!!

Take care,

Chhori’s birthday celebrations

As I have mentioned before, weย do not follow the Gregorian calendar so on the Nepali Calendar we have birthdays on different days every year depending on the position of sun, moon and planets.ย  So we celebrated Chhoriโ€™s Tithi birthday in traditional Nepali manner with puja and sagun.

Luckily it was a weekend so I had enough time to prepare and wasnโ€™t too rushed.

I wore a tradition sari and Chhori wore a lehenga. She was so excited that she was turning 3 that she had been telling everyone she met that she is going to be 3 soon. It was cute to see her excited about her birthday.

Once everything was prepared, Chhori sat down and I started the pooja.

I started the pooja for Lord Ganesh and then pooja for to Chhori. I explained to her everything I was doing and she listened and followed the instructions. She didnโ€™t complain or try to get up from her place for the whole time and I am super proud of her.

She got the sagun and gifts and she was so happy.

I am hoping our effort to show Chhori our culture and tradition will help her understand where her roots are and how amazing and rich Nepali culture is.

I made a small pink birthday cake to cut that day as I didnโ€™t want her to have a birthday celebration without a cake ๐Ÿ™‚

On her birthday according to the Gregorian calendar, I baked a cake and took it to her childcare. When she saw me with the cake she was so excited and started to show the cake to her friends.

The teachers had arranged the table for us to celebrate her birthday. She sat with her friends when we sang the birthday song for her and then cut the cake.

As childcare has a policy of no nuts and no chocolate I had made a simple vanilla sponge cake with fondant and it turned out OK.

If you are a parent, kidโ€™s birthdays are so special and I hope Chhori will have a special one every year.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Take care,

Chhori turns 3!!

I cannot believe my daughter turns 3 today. Most of you have been with me on this journey from the day I announced that I was pregnant. Can you believe that it has been full 3 years since I introduce her to you all?

I wanted to write a letter to Chhori to reflect on the first few years of her life. I hope she will read this one day and understand how much we love her and how much she has changed our life.

Dear Chhori,

I still canโ€™t believe how fast time has flown since the day I first laid my eyes on you.

Even before you were born, you were already a part of me, every second of every day, for almost 9 months. For this reason alone, Chhori, I will never, ever stop loving you for the rest of my life.

When I was pregnant with you I was a little scared at times thinking about how the future would be but the moment I saw you, I was sure things would be ok.

You were so tiny then, all helpless and fragile. I used to spend nights awake nursing you and just looking at you because you have completed me. I loved to carry you in a baby carrier with you enjoying hearing my heart beat and snuggling up against me.

You evolved from lying on the cot, to sitting on your own, from carrier to stroller and from crawling to waking then running. Now, youโ€™ve grown into a little girl who has accomplished so much.

You are already potty-trained, know what you want to wear when we go out, sing along to numerous rhymes, dance to Nepali songs, can identify different shapes, colours, numbers, letters, and so many other things.

You are this beautiful little soul. From you I have learned patience, I have experienced family, and I have evolved too. I am a better person for having you in my life.

Every day is a testament to the wonderful person that you are, and Papa and I will always be proud of you. We love you, simply because you are our daughter.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl. Wishing you a million days that reflect the possibilities you see.

I love you with all my heart.

Love,

Mama

We are having party to celebrate so will post more about it later.

Singapore adventuresย

As I had mentioned before, we went to Singapore for our Christmas – New Year break.

Initially, I really want to go to Phillipines but we end up going to Singapore at the last minute. Can you imagine the cost of the flight and accommodation when you book during such a busy period? I am just glad that we still managed to have a holiday.

Anyway, Chhori was excited about the holiday from the day we booked the flight and told her about it.

I am so glad to see that she will be a traveler like her parents and enjoy new stuff in life. When we were boarding our flight to Singapore, she was so excited that she was dancing and jumping and saying, โ€œWe are going to Singapore for holiday.โ€ Making all the onlookers smile.

We had an evening flight from Sydney so it was perfect for Chhori and me as she slept most of the 9 hours flight while AS couldnโ€™t sleep a wink. For some reason AS canโ€™t sleep on the plane making it hard for him when we reach our destination.

When we reached Singapore, it was 3 am in the morning so we caught a cab ๐Ÿš• and went straight to our hotel. We checked in and were very happy with our room. We got upgraded to a better room and I am so thankful to Novotel for that. They definitely gave us a very good start to our holiday.

We decided to sleep for a few hours and woke up hungry. We had breakfast at the hotel itself and decided to go to the city for the day.

We used GRAB, a car hailing app like Uber, while in Singapore and it was so convenient as well as saving us heaps of money.

Our first stop was the Merlion Park and Marina bay. As tourists do, we went around and took heaps of photos with all the iconic monuments.ย

Chhori was equally excited to see this new city. I have been to Singapore before but this time it is so much better as my baby and my better half were with me.

From there we walked the bridge to go to the other side to Mariana bay shopping centre. We had lunch there and found this amazing activities for kids.

Chhori was excited to ride on animals, play on the big sandpits with balls and toys. We spent more than one hour there before going to an art and crafts stall where we painted and made snow man out of paper before leaving.

By then Chhori was so tired that she decided to sleep on the stroller.

We decided we should have dinner before leaving and found this little restaurant serving local food.ย

I ordered chicken laksa and AS had pork belly. The food was amazing and it came with local tea and koffee as they call it.

We had an amazing first day in Singapore and were very excited for the rest of the trip.ย

Will write more about our holiday soon, till then take care.

Pole dancing , magic mike and whole new vocabulary ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hello everyone and a very happy 2018. I canโ€™t believe that time is passing so fast.

I am back from my holiday and looking forward to another holiday soonย  ๐Ÿ™‚

As soon as we came back from holiday I went to the henโ€™s night for one of my cousins and it was quite a night.

That Saturday evening, 10 gals glammed up to celebrate our dear cousion’s journey from Miss to Mrs. They are going to Nepal to celebrate their wedding but we planned her henโ€™s night here as not all of us will go to Nepal for the wedding.

The night started with us gathering in the city and marching to a pole dancing studio where we were greeted with a glass of champagne.

This was my first experience with pole dancing so I didnโ€™t know what to expect. We were all excited.

We were asked to change into sexy hot outfits. There were heaps of laughs and giggles as we tried to find the right outfit for us. I found this one piece black dress with beads and sequins.

Once everyone were ready, the instructor showed us a few easy steps and we followed her. It was really fun and not as hard as I had expected. We had so much fun but the highlight of the day was the instructorโ€™s 5 minute performance for us. It felt like she didnโ€™t have any bones on her body as she seemed to flow on the pole.

After the dancing, we caught a cab and went to the second venue where we were going to have dinner and watch a show. I didnโ€™t know what to except for this event as well but we were all pleasantly surprised.

We were greeted by topless waiters (guys) with a glass of champagne and escorted to our tables. The venue was not very big with only 5 big tables including ours. Most of them seemed to be there for henโ€™s night and there were only 2 males in the whole room apart from the waiters.

As we all sat down, entree was served and the show started with a strip tease. It was definitely a very new experience for most of us.

After a few shows, they offered body shot options for whoever dared. That was the first new word for us for the night ๐Ÿ˜„.

Body shotShot of tequila served with a topless waiter laying on the floor with salt on his body, shot glass on his mouth and lemon ๐Ÿ‹ slice on his mouth. Now I let you imagine how you drink the shot ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Later, they served a yummy dinner. I had salmon with veggies as more shows were performed.

Then we decided that the bride ๐Ÿ‘ฐ needed to have a very expensive special desert.

Special desertIcecream ๐Ÿฆ covered all over the topless waiter and it is up to you as to how you eat them ๐Ÿ˜Š

Anyway, we had a great night and we stayed there until they closed at 11:30.

After the last shot and the last dance there, we moved to the nightclub upstairs and danced till dawn when everyone was tried and ready to crash on their bed.

Overall, it was a great way to start my new year. I hope all of your new year has begun with some excitement and fun like mine ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Take care everyone and I will share my Singapore experience soon.
