Celebrating 5 years of happiness: Happy Anniversary dear husband

Yes it is 24 June again and we are celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary. I can’t believe that time has gone by so fast. It was on 24 June 2011, we tied the knot and since then every year we had an amazing anniversary celebration. Here are the links for 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Also every year I have been writing a letter to AS to celebrate our milestones (2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015) and here is my letter for this year.

anniversary

Dear darling AS,

Five years ago today, we became husband and wife. We didn’t know where we were heading back then but we knew for sure that we belonged together. And now, half a decade later, I can say with absolute certainty that the past five years have been the best of my entire life.

my wedding

Our lives have changed so much now that we are parents but every day has been an awesome journey that I would not trade for the world. You are a great friend, husband and my rock.

Every day, I see Chhori with you, I feel so blessed that we are so lucky to have a man who is so loving, caring, kind, thoughtful, gentle, calm, patient and wonderful in our life.

Chhori (2)

I love watching you play with her so patiently and talk to her. I love it when you tell her a story and put her to bed. You both are all that I could wish for in my life.

Chhori pasni (16)

Thank you for believing in me and for helping me believe in myself. You are a phenomenal dad and an even better husband. I am looking forward to so many anniversaries with you.

Happy Anniversary!!!

Always Yours,

M

P.S: We are going to lunch at Growings Bar and Grill and for a much needed massage afterwards so I’ll update with more later.

Till then take care.

XOXO

Movie World’s Carnivale Night

The first night we were in Gold Coast, we went to the Movie World to enjoy Carnivale. It only happens every Saturday evenings and it was the only Saturday we were going to be in Gold Coast.

At first we were not sure if we wanted to go but we decided we should and I’m glad we did it as it is a phenomenal event.

We landed at Gold Coast airport, picked up the hire car and drove over an hour to Movie World. By the time we parked there, it was dark but the weather was not too cold. Going from cold Sydney, Goal coast was the perfect temperature for us.

When we walked through the gates it really was like stepping into Vegas with beautifully dressed performers, the music, the actual carnivale, and varieties of food.

There were many rides operating as well and we could hear the screams of people full of excitements.

Chhori was mesmerised by the amazing lights and the crowd. My in-laws also enjoyed the performance and the ambiance of the place.

We took heaps of photos with the performers and enjoyed our time.

But the highlight of the evening is definitely the spectacular parade featuring themed floats, hypnotic dancers, light displays and over 100 specialty performers who roll through Main Street with stilt walkers, acrobats, fire twirlers and more.

As it was already late, we decided to have dinner there. My in laws had vegetarian nachos which were great but our pulled pork nachos were not very nice, though the chicken wings were amazing. As there are so many people, it was a bit of hassle and wait for the food but overall we had an amazing start to our trip and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Gold Coast.

Take care everyone,

My feet got bigger after the pregnancy

I never knew that pregnancy could increase a woman’s foot size until I discovered that it happened to me.

my pregnancy

During my pregnancy, as my belly grew my feet did too but it is absolutely normal not to fit into your normal shoe during pregnancy due to the swelling from the extra fluid in the body. I thought it was a temporary thing but now I have discovered that my feet have permanently become bigger around half a shoe size.

I think I have no problems with most of my open shoes but the closed ones feel a little tight. I have a few favourite shoes and now I can’t wear them comfortably 😦 😦 😦

my shoes

Doing some research, I discovered that it is normal to get bigger feet because of the hormone relaxin, which loosens the joints around your pelvis so your baby can make the way down the birth canal. This also loosens the ligaments in your feet, causing the foot bones to spread. 😦 Your foot bones aren’t actually growing but it’s just that the ligaments that hold these 26 bones together aren’t as tight as they were.

As we know, I am crazy about my shoes and I feel really sad to let go of some of my favourite shoes. I know I can go crazy buying new shoes but I am not really ready to let go of my old shoes.

How I saved my shoes?During the research they also mentioned that the feet tend to grow with each pregnancy, so I may need to have another baby first before spending money on good expensive shoes.

All the mommas out there, did this happen to you as well? I am sure I am not the only one here looking at rows of beautiful pairs of shoes, that won’t fit in any more.

Take care,

My little Fashionista

We went out shopping this weekend and Chhori had the most fun. Chhori ran around the shopping centre making friends with anyone who would stop to say hello to her.

chhori

I think she gets that from me, shopping = happiness 😉

Here are some photos of her happily picking clothes from the rack.

I am sure she is a little fashionista in the making.

We had a great weekend, hope you did too.

First flying experience of Chhori

I told wrote a while ago that Chhori was flying for the first time. So here is how her first flying experience went.

We went to the Gold Coast for a holiday which is about an hour’s flight from Sydney. We were at the airport 2 hours before the flight and checked in our luggage and went straight to the gate. At this stage, we had an hour to kill before would we board the plane.

Chhori was OK until we were at the waiting area. As soon as we chose to sit down, she decided that she wanted to walk around and make new friends.

chhori (5)

Either I or AS was always behind her when she started her adventure. She would just walk around and find a group of people and start interacting.

Once, as I was walking behind her, she decided to stop next to 3 ladies who were standing and talking. She just stood next to them and just looked at them and smiled. She behaved as if she knew them. They were super sweet when I apologised and even talked to her for a while. Then suddenly without any reason Chhori decided to move on to another place.

chhori (3)

This time she found a family with 3 kids siting in the lounge area. The youngest boy was almost the age of Chhori and very shy. The girl who was around 5 years was so into Chhori that she would constantly hug her and touch her despite her mum telling her not to. It was amazing to see how kids make friends so easily. She had fun with this family for a while then she decided that she was done and moved on.

Next stop was a woman who was on her own but was eating something. Chhori was too curious and went next to her and just stared at her. I apologised to the woman and tried to move Chhori away but she didn’t want to. So I had to give her biscuits to distract so she didn’t bother the poor lady.

chhori (6)

Apart from these interactions, she was smiling at everyone and was very curious about everything. She made both AS and me tried by the time it was time to board the flight. 10 minutes before the boarding time she decided she want to breastfeed and I thought that was a better idea than running behind her. So I started to breastfeed and 5 minutes into it she went to sleep. She was still asleep when we boarded the flight and even throughout the whole flight. Yes, she was sleeping until we landed in Gold Coast. I had to wake her up when we landed as it was getting difficult for me to get out of the seat.

chhori (2)

She was fresh and happy and when we were outside the plane and started walking everywhere again. So on the flight there, AS and I were able to enjoy our meal and talk while she slept on my lap. I have to say it was not expected but definitely a welcome outcome.

But on the flight back to Sydney the story was completely different.

Chhori decided to go to sleep just after we checked in and was fast asleep for around one hour. Then, around 10 minutes before boarding she woke up.

To start with, once we were boarded and seated, she refused to put on her seat belt. All she wanted to do was stand and run around. She finally settled down when we took off.

chhori (7)

For the next 50 minutes I had to constantly talk with her or get AS involved and I was praying that she wouldn’t cry. I didn’t want everyone to stare at us the whole flight.

Luckily there were other babies on the flight and a few of them were crying from time to time.

Chhori did cry once when I refused to let her hold the hot tea but she was OK once we turned her tablet on. For the last 30 minutes of the flight she was watching her rhymes.

chhori (1)

I had to constantly change the rhymes when she decided that she had enough of one but most of the time still she was OK. I was so happy when the pilot announced that we were going to land.

Chhori behaved normally on the flight and luckily for us we didn’t have any drama as it was a short flight.

We are going to New Zealand in August and the flight will be around 3 hours. I really hope she will be OK on that flight as well because that will be the test flight for our next travel which we are planning, to Nepal.

Please share your own adventures of flying with kids or your experience of having other’s kids on board. We are not going to judge you but hope to learn from your experience.

Take care,

M from nepaliaustralian
