My Life Lesson No 6: Do not judge

Judging others is the easiest thing to do but remember none of us are perfect. No one has the right to judge others because you do not know the circumstances of each individual person. In most cases, if you know the real story behind what you are judging the person on, you will change your mind.

I am sure we all know what it is like to feel judged by someone else. No matter what others are judging me for I find it weird because normally these people have worse things going on in their life. Its like a saying in Nepali “You see a small ant walking on someone’s head but you don’t see the elephant on your own.”

Judging people for their choice of clothing, the food they eat, how they parent, who their friends are – the list goes on and on and these judgements do not make us a better person.

I have always been a sensitive person and because of that, it is so hard when people judge me. I feel bad and it is hard to feel criticized or misunderstood and it takes me days to get over it. I don’t normally confront the person so they have no idea that it has affected me so much but for the next 48 hours or so, that is all I can think of.

I am certainly not saying I am perfect and have never been guilty of judging others.  I am not saying that I don’t judge people but my hubby who constantly reminds me not to, is a great help. When I say something about someone, he always tells me to think from his or her point of view. Even though I get annoyed when he says that, it forces me to think from their side. Most of the time it makes all the difference and I will stop judging totally. These days I try my best not to jump to conclusions about others.

I feel judging others is projecting our own insecurities, negativity, and fears onto others life, so it is better to deal with our own problems and keep our judgements to ourselves. When I think about the time we unnecessary spend on judging others it seems to me that it is better to utilize that time and effort to make our self better.

I know many people do judge people if they see some one big/overweight but I know that people have medical issues that prevent them from exercising, or have been going through problems in their life that makes weight loss feel lower priority in their life. I know a friend who is in this boat.

I get negative comments in my blog from time to time but I just ignore then as I know they are not angry with me but with their own life and situation and they just want to vent it somewhere.

Therefore, my aim in life is to make my life better, be happy and live every minute instead of wasting my time and energy in something unnecessary.

Croissant with Nutella

I am sure you have been reading about me trying my fight against the cold weather, keeping up my exercise routine and making sure I don’t put on any weights during the lazy season. Things were working good so far.

I have been swimming twice a week and walking/running 2-3 times a week.

Birthday (12)

Even though I am cooking a bit heavy meals like couscous, momo, aloo paratha or fried rice, I was making sure that I am not over eating. And my body is still doing good, with no extra weight gain.

But in the last two days, I think I have undone all the good I was working so hard for the last 6 weeks.

It has been really cold last few days and the rain did not help. After a long time, yesterday, I didn’t feel like having my regular oats in the morning so I decided to get something else for a change.

I ordered a chocolate croissant but unfortunately they didn’t have one. They offered to toast a plain croissant and spread Nutella in it. As I had never tried that so I agreed but it was a big mistake.

It was just delicious. I think toasting it made a big difference. I really enjoyed it.

Today being a bad girl, I skipped my healthy breakfast again for croissant with Nutella.

It is highly recommended as it is so yummy but be aware as it is too addictive.

Have you tried it before? Do you have any food addiction?

Do share your guilty pleasure and take care,

Chana chatpat

Chana chatpat is a snack I used to love while growing up in Kathmandu. They were usually sold by street vendors and I used to love it. Now every time I go back, I feel like having it but am scared of getting sick so I decided to try to make my own home made Chana chatpat. I am happy with the result even though it might lack the touch of the street vendor.

I think it is healthy and definitely tasty snack perfect for anytime.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup puffed rice
  • ½ cup chickpeas, soaked (I used canned)
  • 1/2 cup aloo bujiya (bought a pack from Indian grocery store)
  • 1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium sized tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon mustard oil
  • 1 table lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 teaspoons of chat masala (salt if chat masala not available)

chana chatpat (1)

 Method

  • Mix puffed rice, chopped onion, chickpeas, chopped tomatoes, chilli powder, green chilli, aloo bujiya , coriander leaves in a bowl.

chana chatpat (2)

  • Now add lemon juice and oil and mix it well.
  • The chana chatpat is ready.
  • I served mine in a paper cone like the street vendors in Kathmandu, you can just serve in a plate or bowl.

chana chatpat (3)

Note : It needs to be consumed immediately otherwise the puffed rice will go soft and it won’t be nice and crunchy as it is supposed to be.
Hope this will bring back your childhood memories as well 🙂

Still love Argentina

First of all, big congratulation to all the Germany supporters, yes your team won 2014 World Cup 2014.

However, I am still supporting Argentina for their great effort.

It was such a great game with many nail biting moments. The first goal (seemingly) scored by Argentina made me really happy even if it was just for few seconds when I didn’t realise that it was off side. But then it was back to reality.

Both the team played so well but I could see that Germany’s team was doing better with more possession of the ball. It was tense, entertaining and both teams pushed hard, but Germany were super organised and did not give their opponents an inch.

I was hoping when there were no goals for 90 minutes that it would be a game of penalty shootouts until Mario Goetze scored the winning goal at 113th minutes and all the hope for Argentina was over. I was definitely heartbroken and it was so sad to see so many Argentina’s supporters crying in the stadium.

Big congratulation to German goalkeeper Manuel Neuerf for the golden glove and Lionel Messi for the World Cup’s best player trophy.

No more soccer for me for another four year. I hope you had as much fun as I did during the whole tournament.
